  • If its actually a sherrin, its worth it

If it's the one in the photo then it's a no go.

    • Why so? Have you seen the ones in the photo before?

How do we know its a Sherrin though?

That football doesnt say Sherrin on it anywhere.

  • "Made from the same leather they make their other footballs from". Sounds a bit dodgy. Why would sherrin make it and not put their name on it?

  • This is a ball made by Sherrin from spare leather they have that would be otherwise un-utilised. So simply no it is not a Sherrin, but it is made by them with the same leather that they make their "Sherrin" balls with (as we say in the description).

Not sure you can find an Aussie Rules ball made from Australian leather at a better price!

Un-utilised. Does this mean leather thats not of a good enough quality to make a proper sherrin, like a second perhaps?

      • exactly. if it were exactly the same quality, then I'm sure they'd put their name on it.

Yeah i have a ferrari that is un-utilised its actually a holden but i removed the badges so no one would now i was going to sell it but the local ferrari dealer just laughed i did not understand his humour

    • Care to prove it is made using leather that is "un-utilised"? I would have thought their process would be such that wastage would be minimised. I call shenanigans on this unless the OP can categorically prove these are made by Sherrin using surplus leather. I beleive that sherrin's Kangaroo Brand balls are made in Australia so I find it hard to comprehend that they would ship waste leather overseas (China???) to make these balls.

Not too bad for a leather footy but I'd prefer a "seconds" Sherrin.

I'm going to neg this on the basis that the poster has quoted "You can pay up to $170 for a Sherrin branded football". You can't compare apples and oranges. A genuine Sherrin is Australian made. These are probably made in India like all cheap footballs and is probably closer to the Lyrebird product: http://esvc000101.wic055u.server-web.com/products/imported_l…, which retails around the $40 mark.

The website also lists this ball as having a value of $130, and this being a saving of 81%. Pending confirmation that this ball sells elsewhere for this much, and that it is actually made by Sherrin, a neg from me.

    • Just to clarify. Lyrebird balls are from imported leather. These are made from genuine Australian leather. Hope that helps.

      • Lyrebird balls are also on Sherrin's website, while these are not.

It would be nice if you could point to a link which says these are made by Sherrin, and/or that they normally cost $130. I may even get one.

  • Sherrin is owned by russel athletic. In the outlets ive never seen any footballs that look like this or that dont have sherrin on them

  • So is therefore spam?

  • So it's Aussie leather made in a Sherrin owned or licensed factory in China.

  • Note that the company name is - SHERRIN
    GENUINE AUSTRALIAN LEATHER

I highly doubt that Russell Corp has anything to do with these at all, it's horrible that people are misled by company's posing as others. If that is the case here then it all you are selling is a made in china/india Australian leather football, then all references to Sherrin should be removed.

  • Just to confirm. We can assure you we aren't misleading anyone, these are made by Sherrin overseas with some surplus Australian leather, hence do not brand them as Sherrin.
