Can You Share Purchased Microsoft Games Between Family Members?

My family has been enjoying playing MechWarrior 5 together on two PCs (two Microsoft profiles) sharing the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription. Our $1 for 3 months GPU subs runs our next month. If we don't extend the GPU subs, do I have to buy two copies of the game in order to continue playing together or can I purchase one copy of the game and share it between both Microsoft profiles?

Thanks megaalc. None of the replies in your link really seem to answer my question.

Can I purchase just one copy of the PC game and both Microsoft profiles can play the game at the same time in online co-op mode without a GPU subscription?

best would be to ask MS support in their chat ..

I can only answer for console. The answer is yes one purchase can cover your home console (using a secondary account) and another signed in with the account owner. I do remember reading it works differently for PC. So hopefully a PC owner can chime in

haven't tried it in a while to confirm this still works

did similar to this since 2016 with Forza Horizon 3 and all future pc forza titles

sign in to account with purchase, download/install, sign out, game will remain installed and work with any xbox live account, played multiplayer, might work up to 10 installs, never tried more than two concurrently

    • Thank you! Your reply is most helpful. This was the process I used to install and play MechWarrior 5 on both PCs in co-op mode using our current GPU subs. I’m hoping we can continue doing this even after our subs expires.
