Ended up breaking our TV during moving so looking to purchase a new one.
Will mostly be used for watching TV and some gaming on PS4/5.
Looking for some recommendations under the $1k price point.
(Also as a side note, am able to go above $1k if ya'll have a convincing argument for why)

It's average, but so is your budget.
+1 for TCL/Hisense.
If you can stretch it to a Sammy or LG definitely go for it. The SD/HD reproduction is a little better.
How about Hitachi 50 ( only $699.00 ) and 55 ( $899.00) only or 60 by Good Guys which open their big sale these few days. However this is in Victoria.
The EKO frameless QLEDs have been getting positive reviews on here. Goodluck finding one though.

Welcome to your first post. You're not going to get much for that budget. It helps to do your own research and ask for advice/opinions on more narrowed down criteria. Even a size preference would help.
Your best bet is a TU8000 or one of the Chinese ones Hisense/TCL with Android TV. No intention to convince you to spend more money, not paid to do so.
