Largest Discount You've Negotiated for New Home Furniture and White Goods

I'm buying a new apartment and need a new:
Queen bed
Recliner chair
Sofa bed
Kitchen dining table and chairs
Fridge freezer
Washing machine
Dryer
TV stand
Small coffee table
2 bar stools

What is the biggest discount anyone has negotiated for cash or combo with gift cards etc from hardly normal fantastic furniture Nick Scali etc

Do I just pick up bargains as I go or try and do a deal?

Nick Scali don't do discounts. Their prices are set in stone.

A lot of stores tend to have inflated prices anyway for negotiating or apparent 'sales'. Eg. Koala Living has 50% off for members, so when they advertise 55% or 60% off, then it's just an additional 5-10% of what a smart buyer should be paying.

There are those that do come in and pay RRP though.

Pick it up as you go. Problem is you don't usually get the best price on everything at the one place.

  • Won't buy furniture unless it is at least 50% off.

We got a Super King with base from Forty Winks in July for $1,200 delivered.
They had an any size for price of single sale.
    Awesome bed.

  • Don't rule out facebook marketplace or gumtree.. not necessarily new, but you can pick up very lightly used furniture at a fraction of the price..

A few years ago now I bought a gorgeous blackwood dining table/8 chairs, buffet unit, and three coffee tables for about $1800 via gumtree (those pieces currently retail at $9667 all together). Not a mark on any of them, and we could take them on the day. Even hiring a truck to collect them and move them it was a great deal..

  • In the broadest of terms, look at what the price drops to when your retailer of choice has a sale and that's your price.

I went through this years ago, and that's basically the way it rolls. I can't remember the exact figures, but I went to one place that had what I wanted for $2k and the guy dropped it to $1,600 basically without any haggle. Another joint had it on sale for $1,600 and I got the guy to $1,550 (or numbers along these lines). I've had this experience several times.

The flip side to the above, it if it's been on sale recently, that will basically be your target price (or so).

  • Picking up bargain as you go will definitely give you the largest discount. However, it is hard to do if you are time-constrained. Especially since deals on white goods and furniture do not come by too often.

  • 50k worth?

  • I've been getting in store good guys to beat their commercial store and then using gift cards to bring the price down further.
Was decent instead of waiting for specific bargains.

  • Thank you. How do you access their commercial store?

  • You in Adelaide, go visit HaggleCo for furniture and go hard lol
