Lightest Aluminum Tender Boat (Tinny) under $2,000

I'm in the market for a new, light tinny. Light enough to throw into my caged 8x5 trailer. Chuck the outboard into the boot and head off to wherever for some sun, fish and fun. Big enough for 2 adults and prefer to have a V-shaped front to cut some chop. Nothing too serious, inside the heads of course, keeping it real and safe. Take the kid out for fish in calm waters etc.

Been looking at these, both weigh in at under 50KG. Is there something better and or cheaper than these with similar weight? Or am I limited to secondhand beyond this price point? 75KG is getting too heavy for me and my kid to carry.

Was thinking of a new Tohatsu 6HP to pair it with.
Also of the two above which would be better?

MMMM wouldn't touch it unless it was to get me to a bigger boat
Can you afford a bit more and get a bigger boat because i can see you selling and upgrading especially when the chop picks up

Something like this would be the smallest you would want to fish in

And that wouldn't be open water it would be protected water

    • I can afford bigger / more boat but don't want to because of weight and not wanting a boat trailer. The whole idea is to go minimalistic. I see your points and I'm weighing them. Can you give me an idea of what I can look at instead? Something that two people can handle out of box trailer in and out of the water?

Just caught your edit, cheers having a look.

      • Can you weld up a small frame or get some one to do it for you it sits inside the trailer and a 12-15 footer will fit in your trailer and the stand also supports the boat when not on the trailer.
        very easy and cheap
As i said before when the wind picks up the chop picks up the other boats have very small floor space for all your gear and it also has short sides.
Try standing up in one and it rocks and rolls not good for small children i think you will also have a hard time standing to stretch your legs you really want it to be fun and safe

  • I wouldn't bother with a frame inside the trailer. It has a high cage so I can just sit it in there upside down with the nose poking out the top of cage at the back. One rope to keep it from moving I would think should do it. Main issue is the weight and carrying it to and from water. I could get some wheels attached maybe to help. There are a lot of nice used tinnys out there 13+ footers with flooring etc but they would be near impossible to carry for me and the young bloke.

I see what you are saying about the chop picking up and I guess its a give and take. This is the video that sold me on these little things https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jCCmc9d5GaQ
