Price monitoring site for flight prices?

I regularly use Lightning Drops to monitor and notify me of prices on DVDs and BluRays that I'm interested in.

It struck me that I'd love to have this kind of facility on other things too. For example I am looking for some flights to the USA next September and constantly (manually) monitoring the prices.

Is there any site that offers this facility for me like Lightning Drops?

If not it sounds like a business opportunity!

i love adioso for domestic flights/comparing domestic carriers. They're called price comparison or metasearch engines and websites. Basically have them for every product/service these days.

  • Thanks for the posts but I think I didn't make myself clear.

I want to be able to enter details of a flight and then have the website email me automatically when the price of the flight drops to or below a price I specify. That's exactly what Lightning Drops does for Blu Ray and DVD.

I don't think any of the sites listed above can do that unless I'm mistaken?

  • Getflight and Adioso definitely do email alerts for flight price changes.

Kayak just sends you the price every day but doesn't actually notify you of price changes. Kind of annoying.

I don't think skyscanner or webjet do email alerts.

    • Thanks I will check them out.

Apologies for doubting you and the other posters.

Okay I checked and neither Getflight or Adioso seem to offer alerts for flights on specified days and Adioso doesn't even go as far as next September. I can only get a general alert for all flights around a particular date.

I have two very specific flights (out and in, dates and times) I want to monitor the prices on. I will try the other sites mentioned.

Skyscanner has only generic deal alerts and webjet doesn't cover my destination.

The closest I've found so far is www.yapta.com

Adioso does do alerts for specific days. E.G. http://adioso.com/au/melbourne-to-sydney-february-21

          Click the alert me.

I think Adioso only goes about 6 months ahead of time. Yapta looks interesting. I'm trying to get an update for an international flight to the US in June. Unfortunately, adioso doesn't show United, Air NZ, Air Australia.

adioso definitely does as ive used it several times and get emailed when the price drops - very convenient. Flightstats does, but it seems very US centric.

Thanks but as above it only seems to go 6 months ahead and it doesn't include United which my flight is on!

  • Just want to post a success story with Adioso. Started looking at for a particular Jetstar flight for next Feb costing $129. Suspected that I would have to pay full price soon but put a watch on it anyway. Today I got a pleasant surprise by email, it was on sale for $69. Yipee! The service rocks.
