Sony 2021 TVs and Possible Release Dates?

What's everyone's thoughts on Sonys 2021 TVs announced in Jan?

Give me your best guess on a release date / month.

Should I buy a 65" X9500H or wait to see what the 2021 models will bring… ?

I went to Sony Store Sun to buy a X950H.
Sales rep said X950J will be released between Jul-Sep
That is a big date range
He said these will be amazing, cognitive processor or something
Also Google OS, but i dont know if that is a good thing, more advanced spying/sell our data?
I did not buy, I am rethinking
But it is not bad time to buy 2020 Sony right now

    • Did you get the x9500h? How is it?

    As a comparison…

The first 2020 "H" models were spotted in stores around 1 June 2020

The first 2019 "G" models were spotted in stores around 9 May 2019

If you can get 65" X9500H for a good price during runout, go for it.

If you're a gamer, you NEED to wait.

2020 HDMI 2.1 support is trash. X9500H doesn't have it and the X9000H is spotty at best.

^^^^^ This. If your current TV is working then hold on and wait for the J series.

    • Not a gamer on TV. Mostly casual Netflix Movies, tv, YouTube.

    • I bought an X9000H and have been PS5 gaming for around a week now. I wouldn't call it 'spotty'. The resolution drop problem at 60fps is slight and hardly an issue for console gaming tbh

Would it be great if 4k60fps worked perfectly? Yes of course but I feel like the majority of people wouldn't notice it and if they did, it wouldn't drastically impact their gaming experience.

  • Imo definitely not until Q3 2021. Even then you'd be paying full RRP and stock will most likely be an issue at least for the first 2-3 months post-release.

The processor in the X9500H is still amazing and the incremental upgrade will most likely not be worth the wait and/or the RRP. I would definitely buy the 2020 range at discount if you're a casual gamer (X9000H in that case) or casual user who mainly streams and casts to their tv. For serious gamers, probably best to wait so 4k60fps issues are resolved.
