Help with Solar Quote Melbourne

Hey gang,

So I have been thinking about getting solar for my house and came across a local installer, they have quoted me $2570 out of pocket after all the government incentives.

They have offered me 9.9kw system with 30x 330w JA panels and 8KW growatt three phase inverter.

What are your thoughts on the system for this price and do I need bigger system than this or this is perfect.
On an average day we use 20-25Kwh.

Thanks in advance.

One option is to go with origin energy they will quote 3k for 6kw system but with 20 cents feed in tariff instead of 10.2 cents.

It's expensive but with double feed in

you won't that FIT in VIC regardless, even if you do it won't last long, over 1 year might save $800 extra, but the extra cost by going with Origin probably exceed that.

      • 20 cents fit is offered in VIC . It's not 1 year but 2 year contract

        • yeah, that won't even save you much unless you're too lazy to do your own research, $1500 max, that's not to say you'll end up with the cheapest available rate on the market. One of my neighbour paid $250 out of pocket for system that size just last month.

    • I haven’t even looked into feed in tariffs. But thanks for the advice, I will check it out.

Actually not bad. Gov is paying $1.9k grant and $1.9k interest free loan. Think you might be up for more like $4.3k including the interest free loan.

$700 per Kw of panels installed is pretty good price. Usually $800 per Kw minimum.

Whether you would want a larger system depends on whether you can export the excess. Quote should also include what the electricity network is allowing you to export. You would hate to pay for 8Kw and have 0Kw export allowed. This would seriously impact your pay back.

If you have three phase potentially you can have 15Kw total export limit but you need to check what the network allows.

    • Thanks, I will look into that, the govt rebate is $1850 plus $1850 loan?
