Help Finding a Ceiling Fan

Hi all,

Looking for some help finding a ceiling fan with a list of requirements that make it difficult to find.

Budget is preferably less than $300
Needs a remote control
Needs to have a light
It will be fitted to a high ceiling and needs a 1500mm downrod extension
Ceiling is also on a 30 degree angle

From what I've found from searching places like fans online, universal fans and ceiling fans warehouse is that fans with remotes don't seem to be suitable for ceilings with a steep angle.

Has anyone else had to buy a ceiling fan for a high and steep angle ceiling with a remote?

Thanks

  • did you try lighting empire. They import their own brand under FIAS , so MAY be a little diff to what you can normally find at electrical wholesalers and lighting shops.

max drop rod is only 900 though.
has remote, light and says suitable for raked ceiling, but unclear on how extreme an angle is fine.

    • Thanks, no I hadn't seen this website before, will check it out but not confident to buy something unless it says what angle it's suitable for, I can always give them a call to check.

  • Bunnings sell heaps of ceiling fan with remote.Try looking online on their website

      Definitely supports downrod extension

    • Any model in particular?

Definitely one that blows hard when you need it, but doesn't make any noise otherwise.

  • It will depend on the fan but if the ceiling is too steep you can use a block to level it, then you can use whatever fan you like.

    • Yes, that might be the way. I think I'll speak to my electrician and see what he suggests.

Avoid anything with a LED light that can't be dimmed. I made the mistake of buying two Fanco Eco Silent DC fans with remote and LED light. They replaced the existing light fittings in the bedrooms. The LED is way too bright and harsh for bedroom lighting.

    • OK noted, mine will be in the kitchen and also in the living room area so I'll need the lights quite bright but it would also be good to be able to dim them too.
