i have a blender from magimix. best blender ive ever owned. i can definitely vouch for the brand

  • Will the warranty work in Australia if bought from Amazon UK?

  • I would want warranty as it will send you broke if you have to pay for repair.

First Magimix did 20 plus years. Second one needed drive spindle replacement within 18 months and the initial response was no warranty as user abuse! Told them I was happy to take them on and it got repaired.

  • Would this be a good blender? Would love to replace our blender with something more versatile.

    • This is a food processor, not a blender.

It is a very good food processor indeed, I have one and can vouch for it, but it won't blend.

      • Thanks. I asked because of the line "Multifunctional - perfect for slicing, grating, chopping, kneading, whisking and blending".

It has a blender attachment that allegedly allows it to perform a blending function, but I've never used it even though it comes standard with the 4200xl, because I already had a standalone blender. My gut feeling is that it would work in a pinch, but if you're making regular smoothies or blending soup you'd be better off with a dedicated attachment.
          This is what it is:

I find it hard to believe that this would transform the device, but you never know?

Tell you what, I'll fire mine up tonight and try making a smoothie with it, see how well it works and report back.

          • @Astronaut Joe: Awesome, that would be great and thanks again for the thoughts on it.

@AEKaBeer: So I gave it a go using the blender attachment device. I threw in some oats (already ground up), protein powder, banana, frozen fruit, and some ice cubes for good measure. To my surprise, it did actually blend it up to a pretty smooth consistency. I wasn't expecting it to be as blended as well as it did.

I'm not sure how it would go doing things like grinding oats. My partner's old Hamilton Beach blender can't do it, for example, but my high-powered blender dusts them in seconds. But for blending liquids, like smoothies and soups and the like, yeah, I reckon it does the job.

The downside though: like all food processors the Magimix has lots of bits. The bowl, lid, blade, and pusher that is made of three separate parts. Cleaning up is a pain when you just want to quickly blitz a smoothie. It is far easier to clean a blender jug (hot water and drop of detergent, then whizz) then all the parts of the Magimix. For the same reason I'll use the processor to chop a dozen onions, but for one or two the unpack / clean / pack cycle isn't worth it.

If you're only doing something like blending soup once a week, and you have the machine in easy reach, then it could do the job. Otherwise, a separate blender is easier IMO.

              • @Astronaut Joe: Thanks for giving it a go, the cleanup does take away some of the appeal. I'll still give it some thought, not having a food processor for the sake of saving space hasn't been a great compromise, so it might still be an option.

  • got one, thanks

  • Note this has UK plug - will need an adapter
