Gerry Harvey Announces A GST-Free Direct Import Gaming Website

This will challenge those sites which offer extremely cheap deals to import games into Australia.

To quote Kotaku…

"This is insane. Gerry Harvey, he of the fire and brimstone statements against importing goods and services from overseas, has just announced a brand new online service that — get this — allows Australian gamers to import games from overseas at reduced prices, minus the GST."

Looking at the main page, all the games I see (Assassin's Creed, Battlefield 3, Modern Warfare 3, Skyrim etc.) are sold out. In fact, looking through the Xbox 360 games, A LOT of 'em are sold out.

sold out of the one copy he had

    • Apparently it just went live. Says "out of stock" because the site was still being maintained. They must've been hit with a bit of traffic. so they took it offline to make updates.

      Edit.

Just got me Splinter Cell on PS3 for $26.

  • I just checked and many of the games are in stock. The xbox games listed in the OP definitely are all in stock.

  • If you can't beat them, join them…

I wonder whether it is directly from Gerry or from one of the franchise like BigBuy.

    Q: How much is delivery?
    A: $3.95 per game

no thanks mate. when will retailers realise it's often more appealing to the buyer if the shipping is already included in the price?

and the idea of buying 10 games in a transaction and being asked to pay $39.50 in shipping is absolutely offensive.

    • Well it depends on how much shipping really is, and sometimes there is a shipping cap/discounts for combined shipping. In either case, you, as a consumer, should always consider the price of shipping as part of the item when you buy anything online anyway, regardless of how it's presented. At least HN have been transparent and listed it with each item, unlike other retailers who make you create an account, pass along all your personal details, before telling you how much it would cost to ship something to you.

      • I just added 10 copies of mario kart 3ds and they would of charged me $40 for postage if i went through with it. Just comes out looking like a short sighted idea from gerry imo, which isnt likely to win business from me

  • Seems like its capped at $3.95 per order now.

  • I love the old-man caption-obvious domain name.
