Do You Envy Those Who Got Rich on Bitcoin?

By envy i mean i am happy for them but i have a massive regret feeling of why da faq didnt i jump on this earlier

Bitcoin is now worth ~$40,000 USD (~$51,000 AUD) - I cant help but feel like a missed out on the ultimate golden ticket in which bitcoin started a $0.08 USD ($0.11 AUD)

I know a few people that sold out around- the $10,000-20,000 AUD mark and are now kicking themselves

But for me personally i am just like the ultimate missed opportunity - I am someone who plays the lottery, home raffles, takes a guess on speculative shares etc Not once has it ever paid off.

But the biggest gains in history has slipped right past me and i cant help but feel shattered ….

I guess a lot of people dont mind and good on you, perhaps I can learn a lesson for that thanks.

@takutox: ADA is a slow cooker with sound fundamentals. Slow cookers have according to price history been đź’Ş gainers once they pop. They also hold their price better when ranging after a parabolic move.

            • @takutox: I don't understand your logic. ego22 talked about Cardano, i replied to him what i thought of Cardano. You don't go talking about ducks when someone is talking about chickens. I couldn't care less if you own coins that went 10000%. Simple minded to think i can move Cardano's $6.6 billion market by posting on Ozbargain.

      • How is anything 2x consider getting rich….

        • Hodler could be sitting on 500k ADA.

          • @whooah1979: 🙌🏻💎🚀🌕?

          • @whooah1979: I wish i did that! I did got in cheap last year so i got that going for me, which is nice. In hindsight, probably should've filled my alt coins more. Spent most on BTC and ETH.

        • ego22 talked about Cardano, i replied what i thought about Cardano. Nothing about getting rich.

It'll pop USD 50k in a matter of weeks and then do another leg up.

    • How about this weekend?

      • It's CNY. That half of the world is partying.

        • Seeing some really bullish technicals from my end. Let's see where this goes. Exciting times.

          • @Tiredman: BTC is dancing around 47000 waiting for Apple to finish filling their shopping bag. Picking up 21000 BTC takes time.

First Mover: Bitcoin at Center Stage (and Record High) as Mastercard, BNY Go Crypto

Bitcoin (BTC) jumped more than 6% Thursday to a new record high of $48,297 after Mastercard (MA) confirmed CoinDesk’s exclusive Wednesday that the payments-processing giant plans to let merchants receive payments in cryptocurrency starting later this year.

And Bank of New York Mellon (BK), the world’s largest custodian bank with some $41 trillion of assets in safekeeping, said Thursday it’s moving into crypto.

“Bitcoin and its peers are, quite simply, going to be part of the mainstream financial universe sooner rather than later,” Simon Peters, cryptoasset analyst for the trading platform eToro, wrote Thursday. “I expect demand to surge and see bitcoin prices hitting at least $70,000 by the end of this year.”

How crypto adoption by companies like Visa, PayPal, and Tesla is creating a network effect

Amid the cryptocurrency market surge of the past six months, the consensus narrative is that unlike in 2017, when bitcoin mania was driven by retail investors and hype, this cycle is about institutional investment.

  • Well I do not exactly feel shattered like OP but yes, some regret there.

I had a family member interested from the very early days (1 BTC worth less than $1) who tried to convince me to invest then. One time I tried to buy it and open a bitcoin wallet but it seemed to be a bit of hassle so I decided not to.

Ultimately I have the same view about it as Warren Buffet - that it shouldn't really be worth anything, so I don't have too much regret. The fact that people have ploughed so much into it does not mean that it has a fundamental value.. and yes I've heard the arguments to the contrary.

    • Wasn't the easiest to buy BTC in the early days. Mt Gox comes to mind. Even if you had invested in it, chances of keeping it till today is pretty slim!

  • I take people's BTC brags with a grain of salt. Until I see their Lambos will HODL plates, I don't buy it.

I profited $150 on Loopring, im basically a millionaire now

  • Sorry if I'm not up to speed but
, I read a couple of pages then felt the need to comment.
I think the price was about 4gs when it started making the news.
But there were so many stories about people's accounts being hacked and loosing everything that it put me off , and still does to this day.
There is seemingly no protection against hackers who know more than yourself.
This is perhaps a naive view ,and if I had of invested 10gs I may have $100 g now but maybe 0 , so some advice about secure Ă accounts is possibly pertinent .

    • Doesn't get hacked that easily. 99.99% of the time, it's the holder that was not careful.

    • Hardware wallet mostly fixes that issue :) (Trezor/Ledger)

      Have you actually cashed-out though?

My coworker was Mr. Rich claiming $100k profits from the whole Gamestop fiasco, but he's been awfully quiet and not so ecstatic this week.
      I wonder why…

    • I have cashed out some last week to buy myself and fiance new motorbikes :)

Otherwise it is still in my hardware wallet.

In a few years' time you'll probably be lamenting that pizza those bikes cost you millions ;)

my ticker actually says over A$67k right now

    • Stupid question, say my friend bought litecoin years ago, and sent it to a paper wallet or something, how would this friend possibly get the litecoin back if they only had the address that they sent it to?

      • They need the private key (bunch of words or characters), which would be on the paper wallet - could be a generated wallet that they printed out to paper and stored away.

They load the private key to an app on the computer.

        • I think this friend is very silly and may have lost this key. Looks like the litecoin is lost to the abyss then.

      • Call help desk.

A few years ago I had the opportunity to pay a fair bit off my HECS debt, but I bought Bitcoin instead….I'm fairly sure I made the right choice :) Screw CPI% increase, I am riding a 937% Bitcoin increase :))
