Looks like a Dan Murphys online deal price match. Can't really recall seeing it sub $50 before but to be fair it is not something I purchase regularly. For this price it's not a bad choice for keeping a bottle around for a slightly smokey mixer or cocktail such as a Rob Roy.
Also a good gateway blended whisky for those unsure if smokey scotch is for them… cheers!

Edit: price has gone back up to $54.95, which is still ok for delivered but much less of an OzBargain

  I remember my days of distilling my own alcohol using a kit from Beercraft, flavouring the neutral alcohol to taste like whisky or whatever you want. My friends thought since it costs a third of a retail bottle to make, that they should drink three times as much.

  For those who don't know, double black is a "smokier" blend, with no age statement (black is aged 12 years) it's not inherently better or worse than black.

    Also, for those who don't know, JW is a blend of single malts from different distillers is Scotland. It's pretty much the only brand of whisky that you can't buy in Scotland.

      Actually a blend of single malt and single grain whiskeys. The only blended malt scotch I know of (that I can buy around me) is Monkey Shoulder.

    100% agree. FWIW I probably enjoy the normal Black more as it's a cheap reliable easy sipper you can find in any bar/hotel/restaurant/airplane. The DBL Black seems a bit unbalanced with its sweet to smoke ratio but at $50 it's a pass, should really be that price every day IMO.
