    Your brand new CPU might not be supported by the BIOS the MB shipped with. Sometimes the only way to update the BIOS is use a supported (older) CPU to do the BIOS upgrade. You might not have an older compatible CPU. This means you don't need one, simple.

    Some CPUs won't be supported when open box with some MBs, have to upgrade the BIOS. If you don't have an old CPU, you will stuck there without this feature.
