  • This has an integrated DAC so all you need is the speakers. It also has Bluetooth.

Personally I'd be looking at the Bluesound Powernode 2i if you can stretch a couple of hundred more as you can hdmi arc for direct TV control and an ethernet port.

I just got the Sonos Amp which may not quite compete on the Amp and DAC specs but it also has HDMI Arc and an ethernet port. I paired it with a pair of B&W 807 S2s and it blows away my Samsung soundbar and sub combo. The Sonos app also brings huge convenience for playing music.

But if music is your priority and TV isn't then this is a good deal.

I feel like if you don't know very much about a topic, you should refrain from giving advice about it.

It doesn't have Bluetooth, it has a DAC only in that it can decode coax and optical audio, not a USB DAC.

It's also designed as a stereo amplifier for high quality stereo audio, whereas the two other appliances he recommended would only be worth while if you wanted a multi room system.

          • @squiddles88: I dont care for Sonos etc but its the other side of the coin. A modern network connected device.

but yeah that 'advice' isnt anything controversial… if you want music only and not TV then most of the Yamaha integrateds are ok.

But once you experience the convenience of music thru hdmi its hard to go back.

            • @tonyjzx: I recently went through this search and ended up with a sonos amp. The convenience and sound output and quality was impressive. Also the competitors weren't even in the same price point

@tonyjzx: I think you didn't pick up what above is trying to say. Your priorities might be that if it 'just works' TBH you'd probably be happy with anything and SONOS is great at that.

But this Yamaha is more for those who want a clean signal. To listen to music to the highest potential of your speakers that your budget is willing.

Looking at the SONOS specs, it's not rated for 4ohm speakers where as the Yamaha is. So immediate SONOS isn't the same league as the Yamaha's raw output. I know immediately my tower speakers on a SONOS would be a downgrade versus the Yamaha if I was looking to for an amp today.

              You're comparing Apples/Oranges here.

@plmko: as i said, I dont care for sonos and would never buy their stuff for obvious reasons, i didnt bring it up and i dont care about connected stuff

IMO Yamaha are kind of overrated and I'm always aware of their reputation for brightness. I think $1k is about ok I guess for an integrated but I think its a tough market given most people would go for a theater amp just for the flexibility. To give you an idea of where I'm at my main amp is a Parasound power amp.

I personally havent seen an integrated that was that attractive in 2021.

          • @squiddles88: The Bluesound Powernode 2i is definitely not a multi room only option. Feel free to look it up. There are plenty of amazing reviews.

Furthermore the Sonos Amp is also not designed for multiroom use. It's main appeal is to get the usual convenience of Sonos with a decent amp that can drive passive speakers. To that point it's allowed me to use the best speakers that you can buy for under $1500. So that makes up for it arguably not having as good an amp and DAC as I might otherwise have considered.

          • @squiddles88: According to the specs it mentions a YBA-11 buletooth adapter, though in all fairness it sounds more like an accessory than an inclusion.
The YBA-11 looks to take DC power from the amp to power itself and then has what appears to be a coaxial digital cable for the 1's and 0's.

I was have no issue that OP might not be knowledgeable, but not real keen on how Budju called it out and added nothing.

      • @Budju: What's your problem lol? And feel free to explain yourself. Otherwise I'll assume you're just trolling.
