Looking to spend around $50 on a cordless phone...

So my cordless home phone has died and I am looking to get a new one.

I'm looking at spending around $50 and I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions of which phones to look at as well as any good prices floating around at the moment.

Also, I can't remember whether it's relevant in terms of frequency, but I have wireless ADSL 2+ at home.

Thanks.

  • I think it was Ozpete that put me onto Panatech, and they are bloody awesome. They do new, carton damaged, refurbs & seconds. I'd be confident buying any from them, and there are some excellent savings to be had! :)

I get my stuff through their factory outlet at Tuggerah, NSW; but they also sell online through ebay with free shipping: http://stores.ebay.com.au/electronicandelectricalseconds

A lot of folks will tell you that you need to go 5.8GHz to avoid interference with your wifi, but I've had no dramas with any of my 2.4GHz Panasonics! ;)

  • Thank you sir, I will look into them.

  • +1

We've had 3 unidens die in about 4 years, so won't be going near them again.

During the same period I finally convinced my mother that if she had a cordless phone it would be so much easier to give her computer support, as her corded phone is in another part of the house to the computer. 2 Unidens each lasted very little time for her, so now she flatly refuses to go cordless. So that's a total of 5 dead phones. Good one Uniden!

  • After having several useless / rubbish cordless phones including Panasonic and Uniden we finally foud that there is a brand of cordless phone worth having… Siemens!

I got our set about 18 months ago and it is another realm in cordless phone quality after our previous experience.

I purchased ours at Harvey Norman back then but recently noticed that they were discontinuing them. I did see a 2 piece set on clearance at one store for half price @ $40. If you can find a set at any price my advice is grab it at any price.

  • We've actually had good results from Telstra branded phones - the first, a long range one (about the only one that was available when we went looking) lasted us around 10 years or more. The current one is only about a year old, but we have had no problems with it.
