People Who Continually Use Free Trials: How Do You Do It?

I always wonder how people continually use free trials. Do you need to keep making fake emails? What about sms confirmations? At what point does it become worth it to just pay for the service? Why do you do it? Is it just to save money it is there a principle behind it?

    A perk of sim hopping.

  • Buy a bunch of sims, set up a spreadsheet, mark for each service used for each sim.

This is the new customer age where companies bend over for new customers. Existing customers? They bend over. Back in the good ol days, customer loyalty was valued. So, why not join us?

    • don't you have to activate the sims?

      sim = $2

      • how much for activating?

and how long does it last?

Normally I just go for the cheapest way to pay for the subscription as its easier than setting up new trials all the time (eg. Sharing spotify family account, paying for Netflix in Turkish Lira…)
Except for one particular streaming service, I keep signing up for new trials out of spite as they didn't honour a promo code a long time ago.

    • Yeah thats what i do. I guess i see value in certain products so its worth paying for. I'm curious to the lengths people will go to to continue free trials.

haha want to tell us which one?

        Stan.

  • What free trial are you talking about…. they all have different requirements

    • Just generally any free trials. Thats what I mean, they all have different requirements, some have none and i assume you can create new emails everytime. But other ones require new email, new phone number, maybe even a different IP address.

I bookmarked these links before. Might come in handy for that sort of thing.

    • Wow thank you!

    • Pretty much all free trials will do a $1 auth or similar to verify a card, so that cc gen website won't work for sites like that.

You can use revolut's disposable card feature for real CC numbers that will be voided after use so no further charges can be made.

    • How does the random credit card generator work? What info do you need to put in. Just hitting generate does nothing?

  • tried to signed up for second amazon trial. nightmares.. they smart they know it is you, your pc, your ip, your internet…

the main reason i don't do it much is because you lose your account history - things like wanted lists, already seen lists etc - depending on the service that can be minor or very annoying.
i also worry about the legality of it.
and also about the ethics of it in some situations.

when i will do it is when there is a big discount for a service that i have tried and liked but was too expensive for me to pay for - then i don't think it's fair that only new users are offered the discount, and i don't have much to lose as i haven't been able to use it much, so i will make a new account to get the deal and not feel very bad about it.

gmail comes with infinite free email addresses - you can add as many . as you like, or you can just add "+term" in between the end of your username and the @
so if your gmail is [email protected] your email is also [email protected] [email protected] [email protected] [email protected] [email protected]
etc and they will all come to your inbox, or you can set up filters for organising which is very handy

if i see a discount or free period for something where i don't want to lose my account history, i will contact customer support and flat out ask them to apply it to my account.
    works sometimes.
