[Unobtainable, UNiDAYS] GoPro HERO9 Black with 1-Year Subscription to GoPro + Extra Battery + 64GB SD Card $459.96 @ GoPro

Moved to Forum: Original Link

Bundle is currently $529.95 but add the 20% off unidays code and it will reflect (at paypal screen) that total price is $459.96!!!

Haven't quite pulled the trigger yet though it's super tempting coming from a 5 black.

  • Anyone got a spare code?

  • +1

I have a spare code - please PM me:)

    • I am keen but can't even work out how to PM someone lol

      • +1

Ill send you a PM check your notifications

  • Just a word of caution, if you purchase this without the code and still pay the low price, you will be charged a subscription fee later, and if you cancel the subscription before it's changed, you will be liable for paying the full fee which is more than $600.

    • It would seem the unidays code doesn't work either… As the OP's confirmation email says the full price of $529.

Everyone who bought using the unidays code - what is the total in the order confirmation email??

      • though it does say code accepted…. maybe the will turn around and refund a portion of it? Theoretically it should be $423.96 all up with the 20%….

        • I cant replicate this which makes things difficult.

It says code accepted but the total in the order confirmation is still $529?

How much was your first PayPal charge? Was it $459?

          • @lawyerz: yes it says "COUPON APPLIED" in green during checkout, order confirmation says $529, paypal and bank show 459.

unidays ad says: 20% off + free SD card. Enter this code in the promotional code area during checkout in order to benefit from 20% off all cameras and accessories + a free SD card.

Unless the hero9 is somehow on the exclusions list, which then doesn't make sense why the coupon works, or maybe it doesn't because it didn't bring the price down?? I'm very confused myself.

            • @highon2str: Okay I'm now 95% certain that the code did nothing and that a second charge is coming later tonight for the subscription fee.

I think the delay is because their stupid system marks you for "renewal" when you first sign up for the subscription and thus only get charged at the end of the day.

The total amount charged will be as per the order confirmation email.

It was misleading that the code was even accepted in the first place, as it should have returned an error that it was not stackable, so you can argue that.

I think if you had just purchased the GoPro outright at inflated RRP without the subscription, the 20% discount would actually apply. .

So if the code did nothing, I think everyone here just bought it for $529.

Which is still better than me who paid $559 (cries)

You can try to cancel the authorisation like what @sunproof did before the subscription charge but I think it might cause more problems… Or maybe they don't care who knows..

        • +2

          I wouldn't risk counting on a refund.

  • +1

I have a spare code which I'd gladly give to the first reply to my comment. Don't PM please.

    • Im interested. Thanks

      • Pls hold. There's a confusion brewing. Unidays code may not actually work.

      • Sent. Please let me know if you ended up not using it, so that I can give it to someone else.

caution: Misleading. Subscription charge of 69.99 will appear(and charged separately) in 2-3 days separately from the transaction. I bought GoPro 9 last week and everything is fine after the update

    • I had assumed the code reduced the GoPro to $389… + $70 charge = $459.

I might have been mistaken now.

      • +2

To be very clear, its $459.96 at the time of transaction and additional payment of 69.99 for the subscription, which will be charged in 2-3 business days. You will have to pay sum of $529.95 what so ever.
There is no additional discount given. Even if you choose to pay with card. Gopro will charge you 459.96 at the time of transaction and 69.99 in next 2-3 days.
        Hope this cleares everything

OK I think I understand what's happening here. A gopro hero 9 is supposed to be $699, but since there is a promotion going on, if you add a subscription to your cart, the price will be reduced to $529.

So $529 is already a promotion in itself and since the unidays offer "cannot be combined with other offers, discounts, or promo codes", your unidays code effectively does nothing.

You either use the unidays code to buy the camera for $529 or just buy it normally for $529 and take advantage of the offer that everyone on the planet has access to.

I think what it is is a big middle finger from gopro to all those who have a unidays account, trying to fool them into thinking they are special.

    • Yeah, definitely. When I enter the code to my cart everything on the store reflects the 20% discount but doesn't change on the cameras that are discounted with the subscription. For example with or without the coupon.

  • If anyone need a code, I have a spare one. Send me a PM :)

  • +1

Even though it says code is accepted its not making any difference to the cart. The unidays code seems to be only valid for full priced item.

No freaking contact number too to check with customer service :(

  • gahhhhhh I'm going to mark this as expired for now until we figure this out

  • I've cancelled the subscription on the gopro site and cancelled my PayPal recurring payment. Will contact customer suppert tomorrow and see what transpires.

    • Same here buddy, went through the exact same steps. I actually got a response from Unidays and they mentioned that the code will not work on discount items. I responded and pointed out that literally all items on the site is discounted, they have yet to reply.

      • Good on you. Update us here if they respond.

Just got my 70 dollar subscription fee so downvoting this

  • I've cancelled my subscription notice, removed by credit card off payapl so they can't charge me subscription fee :-P

  • I bought the GoPro when I saw one of their bundles. GoPro appear to be pushing their subscription model by giving discounts to their products if you hold a subscription. As such, the discount of the bundle of $529.95 includes the cost of the subscription of $69.99. If you attempt to remove the subscription from your cart, the cost of the GoPro will be full price. The subscription fee does not appear on the initial payment and you will be charged $459.96 and the subscription fee of $69.99 shortly after. In my case, I was charged the subscription fee a day later.

Regarding the UNIDAYS code, I have tried my own code and understand that it does not give any additional discount.

Regarding the removal of the subscription or removal of payment methods for the subscription before GoPro can charge the fee, my understanding is that you subscribe when making the initial payment of $459.96. I have this impression because there is a GoPro Annual Subscription itemised on the initial receipt for a value of $0. The fee of $69.99 is merely paid later. As such, I think you would fall under the GoPro Subscription Terms and Conditions (link below). Point 9 states:
…if any fee is not paid in a timely manner, or We are unable to process Your transaction using the credit card information provided, We reserve the right to revoke access to Your account. If You do not bring Your balance current within thirty (30) days after We provide You with notification that Your account is in arrears, We reserve the right to suspend, disable, cancel or terminate Your access to Your Subscription. You will be responsible for paying all past due amounts even if Your account is suspended, disabled, cancelled or terminated for nonpayment or for otherwise violating the Subscription Terms or other applicable laws. If Your payment details change, Your card provider may provide Us with updated card details. We may use these new details in order to help prevent any interruption to the Subscription. If You want to use a different payment method or if there is a change in payment method, please visit Your Account Settings Page to update Your billing information. We will advise You by email if We use a new payment method.

As an additional note, buy any extra batteries you may want with the camera purchase as GoPro will not send batteries without a camera in the same package.

  • I had a chat with customer service on a bad line, so I couldn't hear much (sorry). From what I gather since I cancelled before the charge came through they don't really care, I explained I cancelled automatic payments on Paypal and cancelled the subscription on the GoPro website. He said if the charge does come through I should contact them when I receive the package and contact them to process the refund. I said I'm happy to keep the package without the subscription at $459 and they seem fine with that.

    • Same here, just got off the phone with GoPro support (also a bad line). They confirmed that my subscription has been cancelled and I mentioned that I did so before the charge came through. It's confirmed that I should still be receiving the GoPro package ($459) even if the subscription wasn't paid for.

    • how did you contact them? do you mind sharing their number? Also, I got the charge last night, do you think they will be able to refund me the subscription fee? TIA!

      • Its using the contact form… after you fill it in, you can press "Request Call back" or chat…

        • Results can be iffy, I tried chat for about an hour, no response. Requested a call back last night and received one at 10am this morning. The first call didn't go great though, the support employee pretended to not hear me and scheduled another call back. The second call back (about an hour or two later) went fine though.

      • I used the contact form too. Don't hold your breath that they will call back within the estimated timeframe. By the sounds of it you will have to send the whole package back to get the refund for the subscription but I'm not 100% on that.

        • Thanks guys! will give it a go (fingers crossed)

  • From the comments and user experiences, it appears that the deal specified in the title that includes the product and subscription for $459.96 is unobtainable, as a second charge of $70 follows. This deal will be marked as unobtainable and moved to forums.

  • Has anyone had a shipping confirmation on this?

Like others, I immediately cancelled the GoPro subscription and the PayPal automatic payments but the order hasn't progressed from shipment pending.

    • Did the same, no subscription fee charged, camera still on authorisation and shipment still pending…

      • Mine's still pending too

        • Just got shipping confirmation
Subscription appears as $0 on invoice

  • I'm the same, $459.96 still pending on my credit card. Have cancelled both the subscription and PP auto payment. Wouldn't mind if they sent the bundle without the subscription.

  • I just got shipping notifications with a UPS tracking number.

The camera charge is no longer in authorisation only.

No charge for subscriptions so far.

  • +1

Ah! Got shipping confirmation also, and an invoice saying $0 for subscription!

I'm glad this was a deal after all for those who got in early.

    • I think it still is a deal as long as you quickly cancel the autopay and subscription…

      • +1

You've got a point there… Maybe this should be labelled a hack of sorts, instead of a deal.

      • i talked to the customer service and they refunded the subscription fee when i told them i wanted to cancel the whole order but they order for the gopro still came through so i guess the deal kind of worked? On the invoice it also says i got the subscription for free too so hopefully i just got the 550 deal for 450

  • +1

Mine arrived, no issue with cancelling the subscription immediately.

    • +1

Mine just arrived too and no subscription fees as well… Congrats to everyone who managed to cancel their subscription in time and thanks to @lawyerz for raising the awareness of the subscription fees to everyone!

  • Got mine too, paid $459 but the subscription is on the invoice. Wondering if it's worth getting them to re-activate my subscription?

    • +2

Let us know if you do and whether they'll charge you to re-activate it

  • I was going to purchase the Hero 9 a few days ago and had it in my cart for the Hero 9 +32GB SD card for 529.99, but when i went to go buy it last night, i noticed the free battery and 64GB card. I pulled the trigger, but the funny thing was, each time i went to pay via paypal, the amount was lower, by 35%, i kept thinking it was in USD, so did it several times and finally just gave up and made the purchase (before i forget and lose out on the deal).

i received my invoice today and confirm the amount is in AUD and shows the breadown. I ended up getting 35% off, so the price is only $418.15AUD

    • dont forget to cancel the subscription from Paypal's Autopay because either today or tomorrow the actual subscription charge will come through…

also, to be safe, also cancel the subscription from GoPro cloud…

      • Thanks, i didn't realise i could cancel my subscription until reading the messages above, i did cancel my membership from GoPro and Paypal after posting the message above and received my Hero9 today

  • hi all,
any possibility a kind person have a uniday code msg my way cheers :)

    • +1

      you dont need Uniday code

      • thanks for confirming on the subscription cancel. did you receive any emails from gopro regarding this? in terms and condition says something about it will charge full RRP if no subscription.
        Cheers

        • If you cancel from PayPal's Autopay then there is no way for them to charge you in the future unless you paid using non-Paypak method…

          • @meong: ok thanks will do. yea i purchase through paypal cheers
