Ryzen 5 3600 CPU + Asrock B450M Steel Legend Motherboard Bundle $389 Delivered @ PC Byte

201

Am building a system and came across this good bundle deal so went with it. Popular Ryzen 5 3600 CPU (6 core/12 threads) which currently sells separately for around $319 in most places, and the excellent quality and highly reviewed Asrock B450M Steel Legend motherboard, which sells separately for around $129. This bundle deal also includes postage which sealed the deal for me.

The Steel Legend motherboard has a good array of features and therefore is considerably better than the cheapest B450M motherboards available. The extra features include 2x M.2 ports, 4x RAM slots, 2x PCI Express x16 slots, 5x fan headers, both types of RGB headers, RGB lighting and good looks.

from the website:

Not Available Individually.
Limited 1 Set per Customer & While Stock Lasts! "

Update: received my order in only 2 business days between states. Great speedy service. Will use again.

Okay-ish deal given the current market. Lowest price for the 3600 is $304 which goes on sale regularly, and the motherboard is at $99.

If you're using your own cooler, you can get the CPU for cheaper without the stock cooler as well - something worth considering if you're going to overclock.

Lowest price for the 3600 is $304

      $287 Amazon

      • Then this is not a deal.

      • I'm seeing $312?

Website is a sole trader, online-only shopify site operating out of a residential address. Never had a bargain listed on OzB from them. No mention of whether items are in or out of stock so probably drop ships from a supplier somewhere, who may or may not have stock.

Feel free to buy something expensive from them and let us all know how it goes. Happy to be proven wrong as this is a good price, but I’m not taking the risk with my money.

        • Well I emailed the guy, he replies promptly (late on a Saturday night) explained his situation and why he doesn't do PayPal (fees to high) and has taken my money and sent me a ryzen 5 3600 for $280, posted on the Monday morning with tracking from his location.
I'm not home till tomorrow but will post a photo if you like.
I'm more than happy to support a sole trader.

Plenty of stores with bargains have never been listed on Ozb, it ain't the Holly grail for bargains..

          • @CheapGit: Great, happy to hear your experience. Had never heard of that site before your post. The main thing holding back me using his site is there's no reference to items being in stock or not - which given the stock issues everywhere is a necessity for ordering PC parts IMO. But if your experience is a good one then I'd encourage you to post this deal as a OzB post in itself, as that's a good price. Thanks for your reply.

    • Not sure what the negging is about. If you consider picking up a 3600 for $304 and the motherboard for $99 a deal then this is definitely a deal according to your maths…

      • I negged it when I check prices on Amazon as above mentioned which I didn't do before coz I only scouted through staticice.

        • Just questioning your logic and your maths not the prices.
          389 < 403 (304 + 99)….

          • @icarus255: Sorry, I'm not sure where you're going here.

I initially said it was an okay deal - as you mentioned with it being $14 dollars cheaper.

Then the others found R5 3600 for 287 and 280 which makes it cheaper than the 289 posted hence not being a deal -> neg

@Diverse: Just because it's not the absolute cheapest on the market doesn't mean it's not a deal and warrants a neg.

It's still a good deal compared to the average price you'd expect for the individual parts, you also need to consider only having to buy from one retailer and implications on shipping cost and tracking orders.

          • @icarus255: where r u going with this? lol

went from decent deal to no deal because others posted better deals on the cpu making the 289 deal more expensive?

  • Hodl maybe mabe soon

Heard ASRock doesn't has warranty in Australia, am using 350 and can't turn on randomly right now at the 3rd times.

  • Almost tempted to neg purely on the basis of this including an ASRock product. Terrible quality. Had 3 ASRock motherboards all die within 18 months of each other. Never experienced anything like that.

I've got an Asrock Z68 extreme gen4 board running for almost 10yrs now.
Wouldn't hesitate to buy another Asrock based on my own experience.

When I built my first PC, I got an ASROCK board.

Had this annoying issue that didn't let me shutdown or restart. And a lot of ppl had the same issue.

      A year later, it died

sorry to hear. I've got a cheap mAtx asrock board that I use as a NIDS, runs 24x7 and gets smashed too. been going strong for 4 years touch wood.

Nice to know someone's jealous enough of my Asrock mobo lifespan to neg my comment :-)
No one seems to post the model number of their faulty boards… be good to know if it was a common problem on those models or other issues that lead to the faults.

        • +1

          Good to know

        • i didnt neg, just commented lol. hate hearing ppl that have issues tho, sympathize. but i find people without issues are less likely to comment saying so, and i though given my asrock really works hard for its' money, i'd throw it out there.
not an asrock fanboi or anything.

          • @nismoau: all ok, my reply wasn't to you as I only realised after I'd posted that my reply was to yours! trouble with late nights lol

    • Seems to be either hit and miss or depends on the Asrock line. Can vouch for my old 1155 z77 Extreme 4, lasted from 2012 to 2017 until it died and I switched to a Ryzen system.

      • I had an asrock die but MSY handled the warranty and gave me a new board. Latest board to die on me was a premium ASUS Maximus Formula VIII which was (profanity), computer parts are not made the way they used to be…so called premium stuff is a hit and miss. Part to not skimp out on is a decent PSU

  • Is it worth upgrading from a Ryzen 3 3100 to Ryzen 5 3600?

    1080p gaming, 2x 8GB DDR 3200, RX 5600 XT etc.

  • I was originally thinking of getting the 5600x but because of the lack of stock and price increase, I've been considering the Intel 10600k.

Would it be a better deal to get this now and upgrade to a 5600x if and when price goes back to normal or get the 10600k and upgrade in 3-5 years?

    • Depends what you use your CPU and PC for. In terms of CPU speed the 5600x > 10600k > 3600 but they are all in the "mid teer" range of CPUs. You may find the Intel 10600k is on special at the moment (sub $300) which is also a good buy. However it doesn't come with a cooler, so add at least $35 to its price for a basic cooler when comparing with Ryzen 3600 which does come with a basic cooler. But if it's for gaming, you'll get more performance upgrading your graphics card instead of just replacing a mid range CPU like the 3600 for an upper mid range CPU like the 5600x.

      • I'm building a completely new build for gaming.

Was originally planning to pair it with a 3060TI (because it was bang for buck) but am considering the 3070 now due to lack of stock.

So i'm currently considering 10600k with 3070. Thoughts?

  • My current gaming specs are:-

Intel Core i5-4570S @ 3.60Ghz (I set it to always run at Max Turbo Frequency)
    16GB RAM DDR3
    GeForce GTX 1650 Super (4GB)

I noticed my CPU bottlenecking stuck at 100% playing new CODs + Cyberpunk at 1080P resolution.

    1. Should I get this Ryzen 3600 or i5-10400F or just sit back and wait 3-6 months for the new CPUs?
    2. Will there be a massive FPS boost in 1080P gaming to justify the new motherboard/CPU/Memory (eg. $400-$500) ?

    Thanks in Advance :-)
