Real Basic Android Smart Watch

I just need a watch that will tell the time, let me read messages and answer calls.

My mobile is an Oppo A52 (thanks to OzBargainers for recommending it) which has Bluetooth 5.0.

BIG fonts would be nice for my old eyes.

Thanks in advance, folks.

    • Notifications:
This smartwatch also allows you to send notifications in real-time and set them up like when your phone rings, your watch will vibrate so you never miss a call. And because it does not contain a built-in microphone and loudspeaker, you will not be able to make or receive phone calls, or even hear voice messages, etc.

the more advanced smartwatches will have a "richer" notification system. I believe some of the more basic watches will give you a snippet of the Whatsapp or WeChat message you received (the first sentence) and it won't let you read the rest of the message if it exceeds a certain character limit.

Some watches don't handle multiple notifications very well, they will bunch the notifications together and let you read the most recent, but not the oldest. Read the reviews before buying.

So depending on what you want — a Amazfit series watch might be worth looking into and there are a few models ranging from pretty cheap ($60~70) to something in the $100 plus range

There's also the Huawei Watch GT2e for $170ish

    • I'd look at Amazfit Bip for good basic features, cheap price and always on screen with Long battery life.

  • Depends on what you need the watch for.

I find most watches another gadget just needs charging and is just a fitness tracker with phone alerts…

Unless a watch can carry a separate SIM - I dont find them particularly useful..

  • If you want to answer calls on the watch I'd recommend getting a fossil gen 5 on a deal, such as the recent $150 deals. Wouldn't say they're easy to use however, I had to do some annoying troubleshooting to get the assistant to work. It has good hardware so it will keep being updated for a good while.

  • I have the mi smart band 5 and been quite happy with it, bought it via gearbite around $55, can't answer calls, although the text might also be too small for you.

  • I just need a watch that will tell the time, let me read messages and answer calls.

That's not a real basic smart watch.

Not many have the functionality of answering calls.

I would be looking at amazfit. Possibly GTR2 with call answering. Not sure about others besides samsung and apple.
