Looking for a New Gas and Electricity Provider

Hi all. Received an email today from Click Energy that they will be transferring me over to AGL. I was quite happy with Click Energy. Been with them since I moved into this place 5 years ago.

Is there an OzBargain approved preference? Ideally would like Gas and Electricity with the same provider, but if cheaper happy to go separate. I heard AGL was overpriced, not sure if true or not. I've done the energy compare thing on compare.energy.vic website and Globird is coming up the cheapest.

What do you think?

Your plan won't actually change when it's transferred over to AGL (for now). They state in their FAQs about the transition that your plan will remain the same.

However I'm sure later on down the track, maybe in 6-12 months, your plan will change to be more in line with the rest of AGL's plan. So if you want to, you can wait before changing retailers.

  • I used energymadeeasy.gov.au to compare when moving house and am saving about $100ish per quarter? (moved from agl)

  • With energy retailers there's no point in asking here as it will differ for everyone what is best depending on their location/usage patterns. compare.energy.vic which you have already used is the best place to find out, and if you can do the data upload, as that can compare your exact usage pattern with the options available.

Energy Australia has been the best option for almost a decade for us, but I'll do a comparison again when I have a full 12 months of data to upload now that we have solar/got a new meter, as that may change things.

  • You need to check the government (state & Federal) & wattever.com.au for your usage pattern & postcode.

I'm with Click & haven't received the letter yet.

My GF is with AGL and it works for her as they give her a decent solar FIT and she never pays a bill.

My best mate is with Origin (and he checks for better plans every 6 months).
