  • Thanks OP, just wondering if anyone has experience using ones rated at 800A like this one to the ones rated even up to 4000A in Amazon. That’s a huge difference but I’m not sure of the practical use for such high amps

You'll see when reading the fine print that the advertised ampage is a peak number that is very far from what is produced for the time required to crank over an engine. I have the "2000 amp peak" GOOLOO and it actually is only capable of producing 400 amps for upto 2.5 seconds. Check how much current and for how long the 4000 amp units can actually deliver.

Anyone else think the thumbnail looks confusingly like the Nintendo switch Mario console? :D

    • lol

    • Did you miss out on the Switch eBay deal today?

  • I purchased this one last year. I had to jumpstart My Hyundai I30 1.6L Diesel, earlier this year. Admittedly it was in the car, however it was showing 4 bars. Not even a murmur. Fortunately, we had another car, that could jumpstart it.

    • did you press the BOOST button on the cable?

      • There's a boost button? LOL
Where did that small chinese written manual go?

        • lol there's a button on the black part of the jump start connector cable that says boost you need to press it and then start the car in like 5-10 seconds

or are you just joking with me and you know

          • @Poor Ass: No dude, I didn't see it, or notice it in the manual, but I read that back in November. Thank you. I'll have a look later.

            • @BewareOfThe Dog: lololol it's on the link you send me… near that blue plug there is a small black circle button next to the 2 lights

    • funny thing is I got this https://www.amazon.com.au/GOOLOO-SuperSafe-Starter-Battery-P…

and jump started a nissan navara when a mazda 3 could not

maybe the amps really make a difference… not sure

      • weird, so it would start the larger capacity Navara, but not a little Mazda 3.

    • 'in the car' ? You aren't trying to jump start the car from a cigarette lighter plug or USB port?

      Cigarette plug is 10A X 12v at best (120w).

Need to go direct to the battery.

That being said, the cables on these don't look even close to being 150A, let alone 400 or 2000A. Assume you connect, wait around 5 mins for energy to be dumped into car battery, then crank the car?

      • Hi. Direct to the battery. I know some cars have their battery hidden away in the boot. We had a tenant that owned an Audi, and it couldn't be jumpstarted (by the NRMA), though it had some terminals under the bonnet. It required someone from Audi, (I think?) to come out and sort it out.

That would have made a difference? I probably had it connected for only @ 10 seconds.
I'll remember that for next time, but I was running late, and had some work to do.
I just recall the old lead acid unit from SCA, would have it running straight away. The battery was starting to go on it, hence why I purchased the Li-Ion one

These have to be near fully charged to jumpstart most cars, if you haven’t charged it for a while it’s most likely not going to start it, I have a similar jump starter that wouldn’t start the car & had to charge it for about an hour then it worked.

    • mine worked with 1 bar left

  • Would this start a motorbike?
