Oppo A52, Moto G9 Play or Nokia 5.3

Hi all,

Looking to buy a new budget phone. It seems these 3 are the most popular, but I'm open to other suggestions.

Does anyone have a strong opinion about which of these is best?

I'm not a big phone user, I mostly watch videos, take photos and browse.

Nokia sucks, they manage to make Android unbearably slow, updates break features and take months to fix (eg GPS) and heaps of bugs (random reboots).

In contrast my experiences with Motorola have been really good.

  • I bought the G9 Play after my s10 broke and it's pretty good. The a52 certainly looks better on paper but I chose the G9 because of it's near stock OS (not much bloat at all).

had it for over 3 months and overall it's been a great phone. Battery lasts for 2-3 days of normal use, loading some apps can be a bit slow but it's never frustrating, camera is ok - the software enhancements that pare part of the OS/camera app can help make some great photos and the camera performs excellent in daylight. Fingerprint sensor is great. Screen is only thing that annoys me, colours look washed out and the max brightness means it can't be used in direct sunlight, also the display is only 720p but after a few days of using it you don't notice it.

That's just my experience with the G9 play.

Those 3 models were in last years poll, so the community has already voted -

the G9 got no votes, that's sad
and the winner was the A52
