A floor standing fanless fan if anyone wants to know what it is…

    Kinda expensive, but really cool!
    But still expensive

  • They will also be releasing the new Dyson Hot this winter that acts as a heater as well as a fan.

We have one at the work place. It sounds like a vaccumm cleaner. We place it near the glass entrance facing the street coz it looks cool but is too noisy to use inside.

why do you think it sounds like a vaccuum cleaner? where do you think they got the idea from?

    • they're noisy? thats a bit of a killer then as I thought they'd be very quiet as the motor is cased

      • in a busy boxingdaysale shop i could hear it at a long distance.
it might have been on full bull though.

by memory i remember even on low modes there's quite a bit of whine.

  • I saw this a couple of weeks ago. Pretty nice demo ……

    • Pretty good if you are transporting balloons; For air $20 fan will do better.

  • I remember reading a test showing that it displaces roughly the same amount of air as a pedestal fan, so it doesn't work any better, but looks cool and you are paying for it.

  • Isn't this just a overpriced fan???

Then it is on display in the shop, ppl think its amazing because its blowing cooler air then a normal fan. They don't realise that it's just blowing the cool aircon air. I'm sure that if you put it into a room without aircon, it would circulate the warm air like any other fan does.

$322 dyson vs $30 norma fan… I'll take the fan.
$322 dyson vs $400approx aircon unit… I'll take the aircon unit.

  • I didn't realise until a mate told me recently that Dyson basically ripped off a 30yo Japanese design for these…it seems that he was right: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/technology/news/6377644/Dyson-fan…

Dyson has pulled the wookie defence though…Coanda my cloaca!!! :p

  • Any existence of a cheap knock-off version? $322 is just way too much for me.

  • +1

$322 can buy a big ugly portable air con that does the job, or this that looks good and moves air

  • Cheap knock off is about $100 odd. I have one at home and it is noisy.

10 x $20 fans in my room will be just as cool…. and money leftover for food lol

    • +1

      food and ear muffs?

      • I found that normal fans are more quiet then this overpriced fan.

  • I bought one of these when they first came out. Way too noisy to use in a quiet environment so I sold it on to the next sucker quick smart.
