JB Hi-Fi, Can I Cancel Delivery and Pick-up from Another Store?

So I was in a hurry this morning, wanted to buy a new TV because mine died last night and wanted a price match on the Myer OLED specials before they sold out.

Went to JB Holmesglen because I was doing work nearby, they couldn't guarantee a late arvo delivery today so I agreed to Monday delivery.

Now I realise (after they closed) I could rent a GoGet van for the same price as JB ask for delivery and I could have the TV Sunday morning instead of making the wife waste a day waiting for Toll to deliver Monday.

I will call in the morning but I wanted to ask if anyone knows in advance if I can cancel the delivery and (if in stock at my local JB) pick-up from them?

  • Maybe. Maybe not.

  • So you waste a Sunday instead?

    • The store is 2 minutes drive and the goget van is 2 minutes walk, so if they open at 10am I'd probably home unpacking the TV by 11am.

But you'll miss out on the "sorry we've missed you" followed by 2 hours on the phone with toll and the opportunity to post another poll on this forum about what to do next

Surely that only happens with smaller packages?

I'm sure you'll be fine, but I guess there is a risk of damage that's not covered if you transport it yourself though. Maybe not during the drive itself given it's only 2 minutes, but just getting in at the store and then from the goget to your home?

Although have you thought about how you will secure it upright in the empty van? Or will you transport it flat? I guess 2 minutes of being flat isn't that long/risky.

I have straps I can use and they have anchors on the wall. Otherwise I will hang onto it and the wife can drive…

You can't live without a TV for a day? WOW sad…..

    • I can, Just prefer to setup on a day off rather than after work when I'd get maybe 2 hours to tinker with it.

  • I guess you don't have a sack truck?
    .

    • He sounds like he has a sack, but no truck.

  • Waste a day waiting for a truck? Dude…

Why do that when you can waste so much more time doing it this way 🤐😂

He wasted more time writing up this post instead of just calling them this morning and asking the question

    • Glad you took the time to read and reply. I'd hate to only waste my own time when there's people like you who will contribute their time also.

      • At least you got a decent TV was just giving you a hard time mate.. enjoy it and look up the recommended calibration settings to get the most out of it.

        • Haha, I know. Yeah not too happy with the standard configs but I will tinker during the week.

  • f anyone knows in advance if I can cancel the delivery and (if in stock at my local JB) pick-up from them

Bit of a pointless question, no offense. Theres now law regarding this, its all dependent of the store decision.

    • I was hoping there might be an employee lurking that would know.

I went into the store because I knew my chances would be better, turns out I was right.

Got my delivery fee refunded and spent less than $20 on the van and 30 minutes getting my telly.

    Happy days.
