Cheap Guitars?

I am new to playing the guitar (been practising with my brother's and friend's of late) and am ready to purchase one for myself.

I don't know much about it. Where can I get an acoustic guitar for beginners for relatively cheap? I presume online would be cheaper than in store, but with delivery price (which would be high for guitars), I might be wrong?

Ideally, I'm looking for something around $300 for a simple, basic acoustic (no cutaway etc)

Thanks in advance for your help.

  • If you are in melbourne CBD, pick up my guitar for any amount >50 dollars.
It s just lying in one corner of my flat.

    • I am going to Melbourne in the 3rd week of Jan. If I haven't bought one before then, I just might do that.

  • You might want to give us a budget and how do you define "cheap". To me, a $200 acoustic guitar (with no cutaway and no electronics) is "cheap". For some it could be $500.

I bought two guitars online before and the delivery cost is actually not bad — for an Australian shop, ~$20 for a $700 guitar. However people would suggest you to actually go to the shop to play it and listen to how it sounds.

    • good point. I guess I don't know too much, so need to look into it a bit more, although $200 - $300 is a good price for me.

      • and am quoting 51 dollar for my guitar(is as good as new :))
