Android Auto on Redmi Note 9 Pro

Hi Oz Bargainers,

I noticed there was quite a few people on the Note 10 deal that had Note 9s and I'm hoping they can help with this problem.

I have two Xiaomi Phones - a Mi9 and a Redmi Note 9 Pro - both on Stock MIUI 12 Global Rom
On my Mi9, I can add most things to my Android Auto Home screen using the customise launcher.
For some reason I can't add or see apps like Facebook messenger, Android Messenger, Signal, Whatsapp, Mi Music, etc on my Redmi Note 9 Pro.
But I can do this on my Mi9. They don't appear at all as apps on android auto.
I have tried to enable dev settings in the app and enabled unknown sources, but still no luck.
Anyone know how to fix and add these apps to Android Auto
Thanks

  • Welcome to OzAndroid.

Have you tried directing your issue to a forum such as

    https://forum.xda-developers.com

They have a large number of members who are Android egg-spurts.

  • Yeh I tried in the Android Auto section but no luck. Have since tried on the Mi Community forum, nothing yet.

Pretty sure this is a feature, not a bug. Apps on Auto are restricted for safety - you shouldn't be texting and driving. I've never had Messages or Facebook Messenger accessible as an app via Android Auto. You can still access both via Assistant on Android Auto (i.e. send a message, have it read a received message), but no app interface.

Having said all that, it looks like WhatsApp at least is a Android Auto App, so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
