Asus Zephyrus G15 vs Strix G15 or wait?

Hi all,

I've been considering getting a gaming/3d modelling laptop for a while and I've settled on Asus. The only thing is stock is quite limited at the moment. The ones in stock that I'm looking at are below. Which one would be the best bet? I understand Ryzen is preferred…

ASUS ROG Zephyrus G15 15.6" 240Hz Gaming Laptop R9-4900H 16GB 512GB 2060 W10H (GA502IV-AZ035T) for $2299

and

ASUS ROG Strix G15 15.6" 144Hz Gaming Laptop i7-10750H 16GB 512GB RTX2070 W10H (G512LW-HN038T) for $2599

I may be able to stretch it to this one but estimated availability is at least 2 weeks away maybe longer
ASUS ROG Zephyrus G15 15.6" 165Hz Gaming Laptop R9-5900HS 16GB 1TB RTX3070 W10H (GA503QR-HQ017T) for $3099

    • Thanks! There don't seem to be many reviews on the Gigabyte or MSI one. I don't really want to encounter too many issues and it seems as though Asus is the more popular one and any known issues have been noted.

Or you could go the 6-core i5 version for $1799 which will have a tonne of firepower.

    You may consider https://www.centrecom.com.au/asus-rog-strix-g15-156-300hz-ry…
as well. On pre-order, but estimated availability is mid March.

    • How does the Ryzen 7 5800H compare with the Ryzen 9 4900H?

R9 should edge ahead I think.
But this laptop was praised in many reviews I watched/read.

    • Great! I'll keep an eye on it. I don't really need the portability of the Zephyrus but I want to make sure it's not going to be brick either. Is Strix light enough to lug around on occasion?
