Advertising really? Without further info how is this a verifiable bargain?

    Reported as advertising.

Suggest doing some research on the package to consider if its advertising or a bargain.

      • +1

Sage advice however this site is for submitting suggested bargains with a reason(s) why (even if that reason is a simple cost from nearest competitor is $x, we can beat that, we will charge $y for similar\identical service/equipment) not bare outlines of business intent - the submission here is just an ad IMO………..once the claim of "bargain" is made THEN it is certainly up to the purchaser to verify the veracity,

Looking for site Mod input now. Must have taken an early day Friday escape LOL

Added on edit - surprise, surprise here's another one just landed

        https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/608593#comment-10172811

        • Mods had 4 previous reports - resolved. Must have seen no issue.

          • @INFIDEL: OK, that is their decision….but where do I see that?

            • @havebeerbelywillsumo: Mods might respond to you with a reason.
But if it is a lower price it qualifies as a Deal. I've discussed that with those at the top.

If you can show it's not - then it might have a chance.

            • @havebeerbelywillsumo: (added on edit - or so I thought, woops!!)) I do see that "report" figure has dropped from 4 to one - is that the only official notification?

              • @havebeerbelywillsumo: Mods notify only 1 of those reporting. Was told that in a controversial Deal. I notified first, stated strong objections, but heard nothing!
                It's an imperfect system.

TWAM if you disagree with an outcome. It rarely works in my experience.

                • @INFIDEL: Thanks for the clarification, yeah I was the 4th reporter and got no notification so had no idea….thanks again

                  • @havebeerbelywillsumo: I've been "sin binned" & forgotten about for objecting to a Mods decision.
I later received a Commentator badge for my comments.
                    Figure that out!

But am broadly in favour of decisions made.

                    • @INFIDEL: You're a braver man than I for objecting (and more erudite by the sounds LOL), I'm in the "if that's the way they wanna run it then OK but I still think it's wrong" camp.

    • As am considering installing in Brisbane, these Deals & comments of what to look out for are helpful.

Click Hide to not see these Deals if you want. Saves a lot of time & frustration!

      • Thanks. Dislike blanket hides though, prefer to see then ignore overall, if there was a hide unproven bargain option then maybe.

        • Think that tech is beyond the budget here!
But always good to call out BS.

I hide areas I have no interest in, or disagree with. It cuts down on reading.

          • @INFIDEL: "But always good to call out BS" - it's the only way IMO that OzB will (hopefully) stay OzB and not become another Twittering Farcebook, will leave soapbox now!

            • @havebeerbelywillsumo: I keep a BS button beside me. Handy to take out frustrations!

              • @INFIDEL: Heh, heh. Good one

                • @havebeerbelywillsumo: Bought a few - they won't last long the way I hit them.

BS recorded from buttons on Adam Hills TV program "The Last Leg".

                  • @INFIDEL: Boy did I have some fun there (and, yeah, got rickrolled)……….must hit HARD if fair dinkum.

                    • +1

@havebeerbelywillsumo: An example of the power of the Report:
Last night I Reported & had unpublished a "Deal"'.

Nothing of the reason the decision was made is explained by the Mods in their automated response, but can be discussed in the link provided (if not happy).

Your report for Free Tickets for Indoor Plant Sale (Weekends in March) @ The Jungle Collective (Excludes NT) has been resolved: Content Unpublished. If you need to discuss the issue further, please click here.

A reason is given in the old Deal linked in their response:
                      Deal Unpublished by Moderator
You do not have permission to access this page.
                      Reason: No bargain listed

I gave strong reasons why there was no bargain listed:
The "free tickets" are a marketing ploy to attract the gullible to their Sales. It's the normal price.
There were no examples of reduced prices at the sale.
And in covid times, crowd numbers need to be controlled - sometimes by issuing free tickets. So that's not a bargain.

I backed that up by the business's statement that the tickets were to benefit the operators of the sale, & linked a media report of their past unusual free ticket tactics in my comment.

We've got to help the Mods in making an easy decision by backing it up with facts. Others complained in comments it was just spam, but no one else Reported the "Deal" in many hours.

I have experience in getting things done.
Like taking a business to court - supported by a Govt department as it was seen in the public interest. The case took 18 months to get to court! I won in 5 minutes of arbitration on all my claims - a payout & apology to me, but very expensive for the company involving a change in the organisation & retraining staff.
Have survived many threats of defamation. Some people wish I would shut up & go away! But I won.
And years of political protesting against corrupt practices of Politicians & Police. The Government fell, Politicians & Police went to jail. I played a very small part, but a large price. Had political Police outside my Brisbane home 24/7 to silence & isolate me. I learnt to have good support - from lawyers & politicians who visited my home.

So I am used to not being liked😉
But I've learnt the more I'm hated, the closer I am getting to the real unseen problem!

It's OK to disagree with a person, but that doesn't make them a bad person or business. I don't take it personally. Otherwise you are giving them the power over you.

Sometimes those we dislike can teach us plenty. And some are just Arseholes…
Enjoy life in it's myriad of forms!

Ozbargain issues are just small fish.

I am in the market for solar having recently purchased my first house. I am overwhelmed by all the different offers. So hard to choose.

One thing that concerns me about offers like these on ozbargain and elsewhere is that it seems the company have a particular package they are pushing and I'm concerned that even if it is not the best option for my house they will lean that way as they have probably bought this particular product in bulk or geared their business to this size install.

Another concern is if it's a small company, will they still be around in the future for possible warranty claims.

At least with someone big like origin they will probably do be around, even if they are probably outsourcing the work and potentially have less initial accountability. They also, offer to pay it off through your bill over time with no initial cost.

So many decisions. So hard to compare.

    • Device manufacturer provides warranty and where labour cost covered, they do pay someone to fix the issue so that's not much of an issue. Whereas cheap service may come with hidden safety issues. Mine got shut down by 2nd safety inspector who actually checked the roof wiring due to safety reason and the company had to rectify it which took a few hours makes sense why they didn't do it first place

    • I completely agree with so many products out there to choose from and can make it really difficult to choose the right products as they all say its the 'best product'.

      Many variables

companies offering super cheap pricing = cheap quality only works well for 1-2 years and after that starts causing problems. Companies selling those cannot afford service calls due to the price they sell at and this results in companies going bust.

companies offering a little pricier range = good quality product works well for a long period 10+ years and if any problems companies selling are able to afford service calls as not all jobs will have issues, therefore will be there in the long run.

companies offering no interest finance or $0 plans = paying more over the long run for the system cost which makes your return on investment period longer.

A far as this offer goes, I think google is your best friend and should be able to tell you a thing or two about the reputation of sungrow inverter and longi panels.

Hope your solar journey goes well :)

    • Go for a top brand inverter is my advice (#1 SMA or #2 fronius) the rest is obviously important aswell but it depends on your budget.

      • +2

The prices I've got for a Fronius compared to a Sungrow just aren't feasible. Both have the same warranty length and several people in the industry have told me they've had more problems with the Fronius inverters than Sungrow.

Friends and people on internet forums keep telling you it's more important to spend money on top name inverters than the panels.

My background is electrical engineering and with a background in maintenance/reliability. I just can't see how this is the correct advice. I believe the panels, isolators, racking system and install quality are going to be the most important aspects as these are the components that are going to always be exposed to the harshest conditions and these are the hardest/dearest to fix down the track.

If a solar panel manufacturer starts getting widespread failures down the track they will go belly up and you won't get warranty replacements. Given solar panels are inherently installed under the full heat of the sun and exposed to rain, they are a prime candiatfor failing if there is any defects in their manufacture (eg hot joints within the cells or poor sealing). Getting a matching size panel could prove difficult.

If crappy DC isolators are used, you run the risk of burning your house down. Again these are installed in harsh conditions so if crap gear is used, it will likely fail within the 25 year life of the system.

If crappy install is done you again run the risk of burning your house down or atleast paying another installer to come redo all of the original installer's work (because that original installer will be long gone and bankrupt). You also run the risk of water damage and an insurance claim if they crack tiles, don't deal penetrations, etc.

If a crappy racking system let's go in a storm or cyclone, you're up for an insurance claim to replace the system.

Inverters on the other hand will always be available and no more than an hour or two of labour to replace. Based off the prices I am getting you can basically buy two Sungrows for the price of a Fronius. Yes a poorly made inverter could be a fire risk, but there's nothing to say that its any worse than any other Chinese appliance in your house. If you put the inverter somewhere out of the weather, that IMO eliminates one of the potential reasons for failure (eg no heat/UV rays from the sun and no chance of rain ingress).

No judgment but awareness for others. This business was only registered on 10th February 2021.

On the recommendation of a fellow ozbargainer, this week I went with Sunshine State Solar. 7.8kw system, 21 panels, 6kw inverter for 3k installed.

    • Which inverter and panels did you get?

      • Probs growatt with seraphim
