Asrock B450M/Ac New Server Build Help

Hi all. I'm building a new server after getting this board from a ozbargain deal. I'm confused what the newest cpu I can install might be. Bios version is P1.70.I don't have an old cpu to update it with. Will be running Blue Iris surveilance. Homeseer automation and tecom security software. After cpu with gpu to start. Is there a computer shop in Melbourne s.east that would flash bios if I purchased cpu ram and ssds from them?

You can normally update bios without using a second computer.

Yes but you need to have a compatible CPU with the current bios version.

Heaps of motherboards right now don't support the latest CPUs out of the box, and you need an older CPU to upgrade the bios to a version to work with the newer CPUs.

      • So they will not even boot?

        • Correct.

You may well need another CPU to do the update, and then your actual CPU will work fine.

  • If you buy the motherboard & CPU from the same shop then you can confirm with them that it'll all work together. They can always flash it for you before you leave to make sure it works, it's a 10 minute job if they haven't done it for you already.

As it is B450 chipset, it will technically support ALL ryzen CPUs currently existed present correct BIOS is flashed.

With BIOS 1.70, you won't be able to boot: All Ryzen 5000, All Ryzen3000 XT Series, Ryzen 3 3300x, Ryzen 3 3100, Athelon 3000G.

Will be running Blue Iris surveilance. Homeseer automation and tecom security software. After cpu with gpu to start.

If you don't want to find a computer shop for BIOS flash, your best shot will be getting a 2200G from Scorptec (cheapest AMD cpu I can find myself), all those surveillance and home automation should not require much CPU power (although I haven't use those software you mentioned, so I have 0 experience and I could be wrong), you should be good with a 4 core CPU.

I live in SA, and I know MSY SA flash BIOSes with cheap labor charge. So I'd assume MSY in VIC would also do it?
