Better replacement for HG659 Wifi Router

We are about to cancel our HFC NBN with Dodo (finally) and they have offered for us to buy the Wifi Router for $109.
My question is, surely we could buy a better wifi router for under $100 than the HG659? We are looking to move to over Tangerine and BYO router.

• two storey brick home
• up to 10 devices accessing the wifif at a time
• no gaming is done on the router
• better wifi range over the HG659 is necessary for external security cameras
• gigabit capability is necessary for future capability
• parental controls are preferable
• USB capability is not necessary
• Under $100 AUD

  say no - it's a used router not new. You can buy a used Asus router with Merlin on it for about $100-150 and that's much better.

    I just noticed online that the HG659 may be "locked" to the ISP anyway. I see the Asus wifi routers get a great writeup.
    What models should I look onto?

      Depending on your budget/location lots of deals on used ones on gumtree or Facebook. I know the asus ac68u is good, but there's also the new AX series.
