Every single whisky thread. Same old joke.

      • +1

I must have missed it. I’ve mixed all the above (no, not at the same time) with scotch, that’s no joke.

      • +1

        Actually not a joke

You’re not ruining it with a mixer since it’s not that good to begin with even though expensive

      • Same old joke (but where was the RC cola option?), but we've all seen people do abominable things to good whisky.

At a place I used to work in late 90's, one Irish guy brought us in a good bottle of Irish Whiskey to share as a parting gift - and one of the guys at work mixed it with … diet coke.

        • must be watching his weight.

Better with Woka Cola! it will wash your sins away.

    • It's better with TAB Cola lol

Ralfy review of JW Blue: https://youtu.be/Oxg5jHSQJAM - he's not impressed.

Note: The one he's reviewing is from 2012 and 43% ABV, whereas the Amazon one is 40% ABV.

General opinion I've seen on the interwebs is to go for JW Green or Black (if your taste bends that way) and save your money.

    JW Green review: https://youtu.be/LKB3vyvtnEk

    • True that! But the older generation love their unwavering palate hehe

      • +3

I don't mind JW Black and Double Black - also tried Green and Gold but thought they were over-rated. Not bad, just didn't think they were worth the expense.

Lots of people look down upon JW purely because "its a blend, not a single malt" - but JW gives you consistency and inoffensiveness - basically anyone who drinks whisky will find it at least moderately enjoyable.

I've been curious to try Blue so I can tick it off my list of whiskies tasted, but not enough to splurge on a bottle

        • You won't regret it, unless you get to the bottom of the bottle and can't afford to buy another.( only includes the coke classic bottle.)

        • +2

I'd agree with this. I bought green recently and about to finish my second bottle so have given it a good go!
Something seems artificial about it to me but I think it's just that it's almost perfectly blended which is to say sort've boring and enjoyable!
I won't buy again for the price as lots of single malts I like more including Glenfiddich 15/18, Laga 16, Aberlour - all easy enough to get on special.

          • @drprox: I'll second the Glenfiddich 15 (haven't tried the 18). Also if you like Lagavulin 16, you should try the Laphroig Quarter Cask.

    • +3

Love the green. At $65-$70. It’s the go to when on special.

  • I would recommend 18YO single malt unless you like JW Blue taste specifically.

    Or

    https://www.firstchoiceliquor.com.au/spirits/glenmorangie-18…

    They are all sub $150

    • The beauty of blended whiskey is loving every sip giving you slightly different taste. People who are into blended like the Bluey will not chase the taste of single malt. Maybe even hated it.

      • Yeap yeap you are 100% right.
I have moved on to Single malt now…dont have that healthier body that used to take JW with Cigar.

  • +1

Seems like an insanely steep price for a 40% ABV blend.

  • Of course he likes it. But the bonus ain't worth 3 bucks.

  • +2

Try boozebud they have 10% off and free delivery

    • that's actually a better deal!

    • The real bargain is always in the comment section. Thanks mate! Ordered one

  • Serious question, I've had a bottle of this for a year and been trying to get rid of it to get some money out of, is there actually any places online that you can sell it, gumtree, ebay, here etc doesn't allow selling alcohol.

    • You could sell it to a friend I guess. Otherwise you'll need an alcohol selling license. You could always just use it as a birthday or Christmas gift to make things easier.

  • +2

    I'd rather get 3 green labels….
