Recommendation for new fridge - side by side or french door

hi all

my current Samsung fridge is dying as it doesnt cool much anymore and foods are not lasting much inside.

Current fridge is 430L and I need something close to 600L.

Any recommendation for a side by side or french door near 600L fridge?

thanks

    Mitsubishi electric

  • Remember you would need a massive fridge space in your kitchen for side-by-side. They take up SO much room and then you also have to consider the doors opening too

  • just measured the dimension of my fridge area. it is 2100 cm high - 1050 cm width and 660 cm deep

    • hey looked at about 10 fridges. Depth will be an issue.
even most 500L fridges are around greater than 660cm deep.

      • dont think that will be an issue.

just measured my current fridge and it is 690mm deep and 760mm if i measure upto the handle.

  • Check out https://www.homeclearance.com.au/
They are the clearance outlet for appliancesonline and depending on your state and provided you don't mind a light scratch here or there you may be able to pickup a new/refurb fridge with a new warranty for a bargain price.

    • thanks but i would prefer to buy brand new.

    User name checks out…

  • my current Samsung fridge is dying as it doesnt cool much anymore and foods are not lasting much inside.

Just buy food that doesn't require refrigeration and save your money…

  • Side by side fridges aren't very energy efficient and take up more space compared to the same amount of food space in a regular fridge

After looking at side-by-sides when we were shopping for a fridge I don't see the appeal. You get a narrow fridge and a narrow freezer, for what? Having them be full height?

      We've got a french-door bottom mount - it's great.

      • which one do you have?

        • We've got the Mitsubishi MR-WX743C.

We use a lot of fruit & veggies but only shop once or so a week, so wanted a larger crisper. Getting a larger crisper almost demands a fridge with a crisper drawer, so that style of fridge was what we looked at.

There's only a few manufacturer's that do that style (we looked at Panasonic, Hitachi & Mitsubishi). We also originally considered some LGs, Westinghouse and Fisher & Paykel models but they didn't have the capacities or features we were after.

I have a side by side. I absolutely hate it. I can't even fit a frozen pizza in the freezer unless it's on an angle- and then it takes up the entire section. I'm actually relieved that it's starting to break down so I can get a new one.

  • We have a Westinghouse 620l side by side Paid $1500 and have been very happy with it - does what it is supposed to do and coating seems relatively durable. When I was trying to find it I came across the equivalent French door fridge (here) and it seems like a good price

    • thanks. I went to few shops yesterday and they all had Westinghouse WHE6000SB and it looked good.

came back to home and checked productreviews and that fridge got pretty bad reviews as lots of users have issue with handles falling off and Electrolux charging $200 to fix it.

  • thanks all. i have decided to go for french door with bottom mounted as that will give me max freezer option.

  • what about this?

Westinghouse 605L French Door Fridge WHE6000SB

product review got quite few bad reviews for faulty handle

  • is there usually easter sale for appliances?
