Vitacost USA Giving 10% off Already Great Shipped Prices

81

At last I have found a bargain to make a first post.

I joined this site a week ago, and received my first shipment yesterday for a great savings on Atkins bars, thanks to Ozpete's post in the forums.

However after I ordered they are now giving further 10% until the end of the month on Atkins health bars and other vitamins.

I haven't checked out all the specials, but the site without the extra 10% they are now offering its a pretty good deal.

In summary, shipping up to 3lbs is $7. I think my order of 20 Atkins bars, saved me at least $2 a bar over prices here in Australia at Coles, and I ordered some Folinic Acid tablets that cost $40 here and cost me $8 from Vitacost, and now they are giving an extra 10% off. So instead of my original $70+ savings I would save $77 Plus I got $10 off my first order which is an extra bonus.

If you use my referral link you can save another $10 and I will also get $10. Or you can use Ozpete's to get the same - see his post in the General discussion forums for this. (He said it was ok to post other referral links other than his)

Or you can skip the $10 bonus and order without the link.

They only accept credit card payments not paypal, but I have a 28 degrees MC so thats ok.

Enjoy

Be very careful with Vitacost. I ordered 2 bags of Optimum 100% whey some time ago. I didn't see or hear anything of the order until a box appeared over 1 month after shipping. The box was water-logged and crushed, and stickers on the box detailed its route was via Europe! It had non-conformance custom stickers written in German and a France label translating to "…treated as abandoned". The received box could have contained the entire order however only 1 of the 2 bags were enclosed. The second appeared in the same crushed condition over 2 months after shipping. Again it went via Europe with the same customs and 'abandoned' stickers and labels on it. Vitacost might be OK for those in the US and some international customers may have also been lucky, but just beware your order may not come as expected… if at all.

    • If anyone wants an alternate view, I've ordered from Vitacost (with or without specials they are pretty much the cheapest online retailer) about 5 times now and they have gotten in fine. Generally shipping has been about 2 full weeks.

I think I got lucky cause I ordered banned items twice (accidentally), both got in fine.

It's true they have great prices. Good to hear you haven't had any dramas as yet. I thought I'd just share with others about how bad things can get. They don't really help if the shipping goes the crap like mine did. All they gave me was superficial sympathy and "hope it gets there soon".

        • Did you by any chance make a typo, Austria instead of Australia?

    • Sounds like a horrible experience, we've ordered a few ON 10lbs bags and had no problem - but shipping does take some time. iHerb have better shipping rates but higher prices - but I think they're banned on OzB for some reason.

  • I have received 3 shipments for me and the Mrs, all have arrived fine and in perfect shape. However I have kept the orders to the 3lb shipments, which are just Atkins Bars and some vitamins. Anything over the 3lb weight and the shipping goes up.

I think anything else like Protein powder etc might become part of a customs/agriculture nightmare.

So far so good in my case. Sorry to hear about your issues. Guess I am already ahead on value

  • Great items and unreal prices! Thanks for posting!

tried to buy the 5 lb %100 whey and shipping is $40 ? no thanks

    • Buying a 5lb 100% whey product according to my checking on the site was $23.62. Adding a second product increased this to $43.34 giving a total of around $150 for 10lbs.

Mr Vitamins sells the same product for $144.95 + $7 shipping so in effect the prices are in effect the same, and locally its faster and more reliable.

Like everything you need to compare total costs. And for bulky items buying locally might be better. Also as I mentioned above and in my forum post, which you might have missed, shipping over 3lbs changes the way it shipped.
The price jumps from a flat $7 (6.99) to a starting price of $21, so for bulkier items like WHEY, there is no advantage, which is standard for most international items - eg TV's stereos.

For items like Atkins Bars, vitamins and some of the less "popular" nutritional items the savings can be big. Like all stores you need to do some research first. That is why I posted my find of this store in the forums, with a suggestion that people post what bargains they find.

As you rightly point out whey products, unless they give a "big special discount off their normal (vitacost) prices, arent worth the effort

    • Yes, buying the 5lb bag of whey attracts a large sum for shipping. However, what I have done is bought the 2lb tub which costs $19.79 but then subtracted the $10 start up coupon to bring it to 9.79 total, then selected the $6.99 shipping (since it's under 3lbs) bringing the total to only $16.78, which turns out to be $83.90/10lbs. I know the above method can only be used to order one 2lb tub but at $16.78 for 2lbs of ON whey, that is the cheapest you will find in australia.

      • Yes but the $10 off is a once only. So I cant see how you can get to 83.90

Plus a tip is to add other items so you always get to just under 3 lbs so maybe some vitamins etc to fill up to 3lbs.

But yes 2lb lots might still be cheaper - again thats the advantage of everyone sharing their wisdom on this.

        • I said $83.90 because if you buy a 2lb tub for 16.78 your buying it at a rate at which it would be 83.90 for 10lbs (16.78 X 5 = 83.90) even thugh you could only get 2lbs at a time. I only mentioned this to put the prices into comparison to the prices you mentioned so I put it in the same denomonations of price to highlight how inflated our protein prices are in australia.
Good idea with adding further items :)

  • Are these guys cheaper than BodyBuilding.com or about the same?

Theres a shop in Bondi that sells 4.5kg ON Whey Gold for $129 each if you buy 3 or more at a time…

  • really good site - get all my fish oil and multi-vits from them - They also have a great buy one, get second for 50% off on a lot of items now too. (code is BOGOJAN)

  • Noones probably going to read this so late after the deal was posted, but alot of you are talking about buying ON Whey from these guys…Arent protein products still being siezed by customs?

    • they list products they cant ship, probably based on customs seizes in the past here. Note Protein if higher than 10% egg.
