110

Just bought this TV from JB Hifi in Melbourne

Tv $ 676 + 3 Year warranty $ 149

Total 825

I bought it based on a receipt uploaded in the Whirlpool forums. All up $825. Decent price if you missed out on this online deal > http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/58538 > this is expired since the link now gives a price of $898

Original receipt : http://s1120.photobucket.com/albums/l493/bigbrad007/?action=…

Whirlpool discussion thread with lots more info and original receipt > http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/1824514

I tried GG , Harvey Norman , Big Brown box , Oo.com.au and a few other places, no one would match this price.

imho 676 $ is a good price for a 50" Tv. I'd have preferred to not take warranty but they wouldn't do the deal without it.

Bring it on in the comments ;-) have been around OzB for a while.

Most add-on warranties have a seven day "refund if not happy" clause, so technically you should be able to cancel the warranty and you will end up paying only $676 for the TV, worth trying if you don't really want the extra warranty.

    • Open a NAB Gold Banking transaction account and get a Visa debit card for free. Buy the TV using this card and you get free extended 1-year warranty. This is just one example, other banks may have similar features for their accounts.

      • Good point Billy,
Not that I'd do that but good info anyway…

Delfredo, you are right, I was not interested in an extended warranty bcos I get it from my CBA Gold card anyways. Again those credit card warranties are also not that impressive.

    • YEs It is 898 Online

    • At $825 you may as well spend an extra $45 and step up to a Panasonic ST 50 as they are going for $870. It is a Neo 3D Plasma so more efficient on power and is a worthy improvement on picture quality.

      • Where is it $870?

        • I think it would be better to go for a Panasonic plasma. JB will do the 50UT for $715 and the 50ST for $870.

      • The Pana 50ST is listed at $998 on JB website, can anyone please upload a receipt showing price of $870 to help others (as in me ;) get that price.

  • I thought LG have 3 years manufacture warranty on their tv is that mean you get 3+3?

  • i would be getting just the tv itself, no need for extended warranty

    • Did anyone watch the special news report on ABC channel on warranties? Apparently since we all expect TV to last beyond 2 years, the solicitor that they interviewed said that there's no need to purchase extended warranty for a right that is already provided for under the law. Consumer rights law was strengthened a year ago and not many people are aware of it. Another example, is that it is illegal for retailers to say no refund on sale items.

  • Just playing with this TV and its awesome,

Great functionality of a smart TV at a good price, Now all I need is a deal on a good NAS server.

I'd never thought I'd buy an LG I was a Samsung fan, But this Choice magazine list helped my wife convince me.

  • I bought this TV from JB - DFO Essendon for $698 outright two weeks back. ( The listed price was $998 that day).
LG offers a ten year structural warranty on their products anyways.
Pretty happy with the TV. Jb had this TV picture mode set up on "Standard" mode and the picture quality appeared black & White & Cheap to me. ( and then they compare it with Sony Bravia and Pana Neoplasma and ask you to buy those).

I came home and changed the picture mode to "Vivid" and the true colours of full HD were reflected. :)

  • Anyone know of somewhere in Sydney that still has these in stock? They look great, but seem to be rapidly disappearing

    • because they are end of line product (i heard)

      • Yes , not many around, Great value for money ,
        but end of line,

Not many in JBhifi , only floor stock left in Melbourne,Only in JBhifi South morang.
