Not as cheap as EOFY sales where they are typically $150 off. If you're in the market for a new mattress right now this one is highly recommended.

Does anyone else have this and can provide more feedback? I've seen these ads pop up from time to time just wasn't sure about them. Eva and onebed. Cheers.

Bought one late last year as I saw it as a better value mattress vs sleeping duck. Does feel very "firm" but note that as there is a decent layer of foam on top of the firm springs you get a nice "soft" feel that wraps around your body; so for those who prefer rock hard beds it might not be for you. Can also attest to the 'coolness' of the mattress as well vs our old normal spring mattress. Note, it is heavier than other products of similar type.

      • Agree with this, bit too firm for my liking. And to add, there is almost no side support at the edge for this mattress.

    • It is a great mattress, but does dip due to being memory foam top.

    • I have two. Bought one a year ago and one two years before that. I’ve never liked the feeling in lying on foam mattresses. Because the Eva has springs as well you get a good bounce without that sinking foam feeling.

Totally read this initially as $125 as the total price. Oh well Friday nights do that to you I suppose on occasions.

  • Aussie made?

    • According to their website. Its made in China

Bedworks, fortywinks sells Aussie made. Price looks good as well

      • Haha I think the only mattresses we have left are Dunlop and Sealy. Even sleep maker is Australian made with Chinese parts.

Even sleep maker is Australian made with Chinese parts.

Sleepmaker while they make some budget mattresses in China do not use Chinese parts in their Aussie made mattresses.

Steel is one steel (Australian based)
Foam is Dunlop foams (Australian based)

95% of sleepmaker mattresses are 100% Aussie made and they are one of the only brands that can claim that.
Think when I did my training sealy was like 92% Aussie parts in their mattresses which is still pretty decent.

@jimbobaus: Sleepmaker sources its parts from around the world now. I have a friend in the production facility. My mate Deb also has worked in bedding and owned franchisees for over 25 years.

They're the same as Sealy now and it's definitely not 90%+ Australian. They both use Australian jobs though.

            Even the website says

Our team of craftspeople make your mattress at one of our Australian factories, using local labour resources.

Sleepmaker mattresses also sag, check display models for reference, it's only the top end mattresses which don't $5000+.

Beds have huge markups, you can often get 70% off. The new trick seems to be buy single and get any size for $1 more.

@[Deactivated]: Work in the industry currently.
Have seen the components used in the majority of sleepmaker mattresses. (lifestyle, cocoon, etc )
they are one of the only companies that can claim 100% aus made cause they are.

Your friend in the production facility either does not actually know what goes into the mattresses or simply does not exist.
if they did they would 100% be able to confirm to you the % of australian made components.

When i went to the facility for training they show you the components and show you where they are from.

Sealy mattreses are mostly aussie, the foam and sprigs are def Aussie sourced thats for sure over 90%

As for the markups they are not "huge" but full RRP is not something anyone should pay (and no one ever does)

the display models in my store are not sagging, the sleepmaker i sleep on is not sagging.
All mattresses no matter what the brand have a risk of sag, thats why you get a warranty that covers you if it sags over 10mm

as for the get any size for $1
i have commented a few times that the Any size for a single or the like sales are the worst sales to buy Mattresses from.
the only time its "worth it" is if you need a king or a super king.

      • Forty winks foam mattress is Aussie made by name only. The foam is sourced from China

  • How does this compare to ZzzAtelier or Zinus ?

  • How does this compare to an entry level Sealy 'Advantage' mattress that is a similar price?

Anything under $3000 with 50% off you're not getting anything worthwhile in a Sealy.

Better off going Art and Science Platinum for anything under $5000. They're far better than sleeping duck, Eva, Sealy, Sleepmaker etc.

Around the $5000+ mark you'd be looking at a tempur mattress but they're really only for people with bad bad backs.

For the rest of consumers just stick with art and science for $1299.

Don't take my word for it though, it's choice rated number 1 mattress.

      https://www.choice.com.au/products/home-and-living/bedroom/m…

We went the platinum though at $1299, it's up there with a $6500 Sealy. 8 zoned pocket spring system.

      • Just remember choice only rates the mattresses that
        1) Submit mattresses for assesment
        and
        2) pay the huge fee to get a Choice rating to help them promote their product.

Choice is not the be all and end all.. if they compared with EVERYTHING on the market maybe, but they do not,
Many manufacturers refuse to be held to ransom by Choice and refuse to have their products rated/assessed due to the highway robbery that comes after the rating.

The mattreses with the best ratings are the ones willing to pay the money … just look at sleeping duck going on and on about their 5 star rating from choice.
means less when you know they paid a tidy sum to get that rating.
