  • Interesting idea. Any idea if the battery is replaceable?

    • +3

      Read the Deal Link…
      Q:How to replace battery ?
A:The battery cannot be replaced, sorry 😬

So once it dies - you have an ordinary 500ml water bottle!

I think that's enough for me to neg the deal it's pretty stupid.

        • -1

Well how else can a person tell if the contents are hot or cold…
          Take a sip - so uncivilised 😄

And how could they sell you another if we could replace the battery?
          Not very "Smart"!

Older members of family use vacuum flasks going back decades - all working well.

          • @INFIDEL: My sarcasm mustn't have been clear enough😉

        • I don't think the deal should be negged based on your opinion of the product. Negging should be reserved for if there is a better price elsewhere thus being a bad deal.

          • @dmbminaret: A rare & considered Neg for a product from me.

My neg vote was not given for that sarcastic comment!

The failings of this Deal seemed obvious to me - not requiring further explanation…

A product marketed with its main feature designed to fail within a relatively short time - is a faulty product.

Inbuilt obsolescence should never be accepted.

I alerted people to that issue with this & Kmart products - battery is non-replaceable!

That the Deal does not make that clear in the listing or Deal Description is a major problem with the Deal. It is misleading. (Kmart list it in the Product Description, although most won't notice it.)

Have you read the issues raised in the Questions section of the listing? eg display not working, stopped working after a short while.

Plus much cheaper elsewhere as commented. And much easier to return to Kmart if there is a problem!

As such it can be given a legitimate neg vote.

    Over-engineering at its finest.

Just like the solar-powered torch from one of a Stephen Chow’s comedy movies…

Nothing can beat Kmart. They are selling the same for only $12.
    https://www.kmart.com.au/product/led-display-smart-drink-bot…

    • Also non-replaceable battery

      • It's interesting that it's non replaceable but it specifies that it's a button cell. It must be able to be replaced with difficulty then.

        Still stupid either way.

        • For a non replaceable button cell, Kmart gives a safety caution for use around children! (Considering it could contain scolding hot contents.)

Doubt it could be replaced without affecting seals.

          • @INFIDEL: says 2 year life span of battery and don’t worry about cumbersome battery replacement ……doesn’t say battery can’t be replaced …..might be poor grammar translated from chinese.

think someone needs to have a look at the kmart ones ……i have many things with button batteries that are supposed to be non users replaceable and it’s based on needing a special tool e.g watch case opener or seal grease to re-waterproof ….. e.g battery replacement in electric tooth brushes.

need someone to have a look next time at kmart and report back.

            • @garage sale:

doesn’t say battery can’t be replaced

              Kmart - Product Description
              Additional Information
              Contains non-replaceable batteries

Inbuilt obsolescence should never be accepted.

Of course there are many videos of "non-replaceable batteries" being replaced. Depends if it affects the water bottle, or waterproofing of display.

I've found some batteries covered in glue, or the product broke while trying to replace the battery. As it's not designed to be opened or repaired - it's often not easy to replace the battery.

Not everyone buying this product has the tools, ability & time to be bothered replacing a battery not designed to be replaced just to see if the drink is hot or cold!

Sometimes replacing the $12 product is easier. Considering how much you could be paid working rather than repairing a poorly designed product…

Having spent quite some time learning how to & then replacing a Oral B toothbrush battery - found it was a waste of time & money - the product had failed. I bought a new Oral B toothbrush cheaper & easier in a Deal for $7.50!

My workshop has a bit of "to be repaired / salvaged" products. Most of the time it's not worth the effort.

Best idea is to use an ordinary water bottle & take a drink - you'll know if it's at the right temp, unless you have a very specific need.

  • Another ewaste !

  • The thing with all these stupid ass products is that they'll just end up as landfill. Stop producing crap!
