Trying to sell a pair of Apple AirPods (brand new) on Facebook Marketplace.
One particular buyer has asked for the invoice to cover warranty for any issues down the track.
Are sellers expected to provide an invoice for selling brand new items on FB? Can buyers do something dodgy with the invoice?
It's a bit of a noob question as I am quite new to this… Thank you in advance for any advice.

Dont give invoice unless you have the cash.
Buyers usually pay a little more or the it may help close the sale if it comes with an invoice for warranty purposes. Make sure you remove any personal details.
Quite a normal request. It means that if they ever have an issue with the product they have the invoice for a warranty repair.
If the invoice has any personal details (eg card details) then i'd remove that and have no issue in supplying it.
But how do you remove it?
Do you cut your name out or mark over with a black pen?
Will look very dodgy when providing it to Apple for repairs.
I'd photocopy it, black it out with a marker, then photocopy again.

You don't need an Invoice when doing repairs. They just run the S/N and check your email to see when it was activated and whether it is stolen or not. Replaced my Pros recently because one side died.
I wouldn't hand over an invoice which is also part of 100 points of ID (eg phones bought on a phone bill).
Also it goes without saying that you must accept CASH ONLY!

You don't need a receipt to claim warranty. They can see the serial number and check status online.

That means the warranty will be provided regardless of whether the claimant can provide proof of purchase.

Not sure what the deal is with airpods, but some products (I hear stories of Corsair memory, for example) claim it is only applicable to the original purchaser
Probably because nearly all the AirPods on Fartbook are fakes. They probably want to make sure that they are real.
I tend to ask for a receipt on high value items for reasons mentioned above (warranty, authenticity) but also to minimize the chance of it being stolen.
I sold a pair for my friend 2 weeks ago. I gave the buyer the invoice from Apple. the serial# on their invoice matches that on the box.
(she got the airpods bundled with a macbook and didnt need the airpods)

190 is unreasonable at this point in time due to the back to school airpod promotion. There's frequent deals on ozbargain for around 190 anyway. There were heaps listed for 180-200, so I sold mine for 160 (advertised 170) in 1 day. Provided receipt with my personal details blurred out. It's so easy to sell these at the right price.
Sellers should also wear a tin-foil hat for precautions.
Take cash, get them to pick up in a location you choose and if you’re so worried about the personal details on the invoice just white out and photocopy or cut that part off.
sell outside a police station, take videos, Facebook live the whole experience, attend with a mob of people, have 10 contacts who will contact police if they don't hear back within 1 minute of the transaction, cash old, non sequential bills. must come in this birthday suit,bring an attack dog,… I think I missed somthing

Just get them to meet you somewhere then hand over the AirPods with invoice as soon as they give you the cash.
