These knives are not bad for the price you can abuse them and not cry if they get chipped etc.

    Also "handwash" only.

    • Thanks, I've added it to description.

    • Life's too short to handwash a cheap Ikea knife.

What's going to happen… the stainless will go blunt?? Worst thing with ours over the last 4 years is the black paint in the grooves is slowly wearing away.

dont get why people would put knifes in the dish washer, it means you can't use it. Washing it takes 30 seconds, and it means you can cut things.

        • +4

putting it in the dishwasher and taking it out also takes time. handwashing a dirty knife is usually relatively easier than a dirty dish imho

        • Plus 1

        • Thats why you buy more than one.

    • If you abuse them they're guaranteed to chip.

  • I didn’t hand wash and it ruined my knife after 1 use

    • In what way?

      • +5

It was too dirty to use anymore

      • Let me show you photos

        • I didn’t take photos but there are blotches that I can’t remove the stain

          • @sunnyc: Was it due to not hand washing? Is it the same Ikea 365+ knife?

            • @CodeXD: Yes dishwasher but I didn’t know

  • Ive had some cheap ikea knives (timber handles cant remember the product name) for almost 7 years they get flogged and put in dishwasher still cut ok but for when I cook the Shun's come out and left the wife to use the ikea knives. A simple quick sharpen before each use get a ok edge on them even after all this time.

  • Been using the Ikea knives 365+ for years
    in the dishwasher every night
needs sharping once a month or so cause of it

    https://www.ikea.com/au/en/p/skaerande-knife-sharpener-black…

Depends on how you treat your knife, i'm kidding myself if i was going to hand wash Global knives after every use.

  • We've had these knives for a while now - they are good value!

However I managed to snap the chef's knife right where the handle meets the blade while cutting a pumpkin. Could have ended badly, but luckily no injury.

Ended up buying another (to match the rest of the set) and have made a mental note to take it slow with tough things like pumpkin. So far so good.

  • Been using these for 3 years now, haven't needed to sharpen once since getting them.

Sharpened once with my lansky brand new out of the box.

Then just strop 3 times each side on leather before each use and it's been shaving the hair on my arms since I took the knives out of the box

    • for 3 years now, haven't needed to sharpen once

Sounds like the best knives in the world.

      • I'm particular about what cuts I use them doing my best to avoid frozen or bone cuts

Stropping on leather (with compound) does wonders.

        Edit: added compound part

Edit: forgot to add note about first edit

        • ;) thanks, all clear, incl. the edits.

are they difficult to clean with those grooves on the handle?

    • Hasn't been an issue for me, in terms of cleaning.

  • Okay, so I went into Ikea to possibly buy more knives. Knowing my knives were damaged in the dishwasher, I checked the packaging, there was no wording to say hand wash only on the back. In the front there is two symbols which I had no idea what they meant. Apparently the one in the right means hand wash.
