You may want to also include company ethics and compliance into your decision making. AGL is currently seeking approvals for a gas import facility in Victoria, including a pipeline through internationally recognised natural areas, that will damage the environment significantly.
AGL doesn't have a great track record as a corporate entity:
    - Fined $3m for failing to offset their 2017 emission levels https://www.wattly.com/news/agl-energy-fined-3-million-for-f...
    - Fined and audited in relation to how it treats its customers in financial difficult (disconnect now, talk later) https://www.aer.gov.au/news-release/agl-pay-penalties-and-au...
    - Fined $1.3m for failing to provide retail market performance data on time https://www.aer.gov.au/news-release/agl-to-pay-13-million-penalty-for-failing-to-provide-performance-data-on-time#:~:text=News-,AGL%20to%20pay%20%241.3%20million%20penalty%20for%20failing%20to%20provide,Australian%20Energy%20Regulator%20(AER).
    - Fined $1.1m for leaking fly ash slurry from its Bayswater Power Station https://www.energynewsbulletin.net/environment/news/1401640/...
    - Fined $450k for sending inflated energy bills to customers https://www.esc.vic.gov.au/media-centre/pensioners-fall-vict...

But it is up to you.

      Have to agree.

I didn't even consider using them when I changed energy providers.

Destroying the Western Port Bay mangroves, putting in a jetty and importing LGP is totally unjustified.

That is an expensive investment on a depreciating asset.

    AGL customer here.

Also looking into their battery, what I can say is 2 other solar quoters said Tesla Powerwall 2 price that I was quoted on by AGL is very cheap and that is BEFORE their $1,000 incentive to join their Virtual Power Plant.

Independent checking reveals this is true (unless I haven't checked enough).

I have been looking at battery systems for solar and I have found that there are cost savings for inverters that are integrated into the battery systems.

Have a look at the Redback and Huawei battery systems as they are also scalable up to 30kwh. EG you could start at a 5kwh battery and just keep adding 5kwh batteries if your needs increase.

You should calculate how many years it will take before you see a return on investment. It's generally very high with battery, pretty low with solar only.

It's coming down but yeah I got an R.O.I of ~7.5 years with this deal.

      •

Not too bad I suppose. Can you program the inverters to keep the batteries between 20-80%?

Have you asked quotes from other companies other than AGL?
I'm pretty sure you will find much cheaper one.

So is that just for solar, or also battery?
