Sunbank Solar (or mysunbank) Free Install Offer, Feedback Please

Just opened a (soggy) letter at 20:53PM so, no, haven't contacted the company LOL

A generic letterdrop (addressed to the "Electricity Account Holder") offering a numbers limited free install of solar system and batteries (no specific details provided of brand, size etc). A contact number is provided and a warning that mostly unspecified conditions need to be met - need to have your electricity bill in hand is the only specified item.

Is on the letterhead of a known solar company - mysunbank.

Anyone know any details about this? eg is it worth it or I also received this and the skinny is etc etc.

Thanks in advance.

generic letterdrop (addressed to the "Electricity Account Holder)

Why did you not instantly put this in the recycling?

  • Curiosity………..and it was sent as a genuine letter in appearance and so I opened and read it and was a little tempted.

    • what makes it a genuine letter, was it in a genuine paper A4 envelope?

  • free install, but what is the catch… pay it off in instalments? they own your ass?
no different to being tempted by 'free shipping' on an overpriced product.
move along, (probably) nothing to see here.

  • Yep the possible implications have me going whoa but, as I can't speak to them directly till business hours tomorrow, was looking to see if anyone knew anything concrete.

    • There are a lot of "solar" companies around nowadays. Do your research. Check licensing, insurances, manufacturers, warranty……

To answer your question, never heard of them myself (probably more local if letter dropping). A quick web search will likely turn up some useful information

    • Thanks a bunch, that's the "concrete" I was seeking it seems (still reading). Pity Google didn't find it when I looked before posting here (or I'm blind - always a possibility).

      • Whenever you looking for information on a company (but not from the company itself), exclude their own website from the search results (usually by including something like "-site:www.mysunbank.com.au").

  • The company does exist. I used to work in the same building as Sunbank Solar and they do mail drop-ins about their VPP (Apparently using Eveready Batteries).

However, I cannot vouch their legitimacy as solar company because partly I never replied to them.

  • Solar companies have been run off their feet with more than enough business since covid started. A company that isn't doing anything dodgy would have no need to letterbox drop and no need to offer anything for free. I say run.

If you are actually interested in getting solar, go to solarquotes.com.au and do a lot of reading of their hundreds of articles, then ask for some quotes

  • Thanks to all who've posted on this…..letter is going into the recycle bin.
