Dear OzB fam.
My cat has a build up of mucous in the corner of her eyes that is a dark colour in the corner of the eye. When I go to wipe it off a line of sticky pale mucous gets pulled along the bottom of her eye lid.
Has anyone had this issue or should I go to the vet?

Update vet 2, said same as vet 1. She's fine, just extra sleep in eye like humans.

Please take them to a vet ASAP. This doesn't look normal at all.

Obviously take it to the vet, they'll know more than randoms on an internet forum.

When you purchased the cat you also purchased the cost of caring for the cat for its eternal life.
Take it to a vet. Yes it will probably cost a few hundred but you agreed to that when you took on the animal.
In the last month my cats have cost me about 2.5k 😢 and more to come, at least another 1.5k
I would hate to be your cat if you have to ask on a forum for permission to take your animal to the vet.

That doesn't seem normal. Might be a foreign body or blood tinting it or something else very serious. Take it to a decent vet especially someone with plenty experience. I find community vet clinics(e.g., awl and rspca) and older blokes a lot better than fancy new vet clinics that charge a fortune for guesswork and give you band aid solutions.

We have taken her to the vet 2-3 times and queried the eye discharge. The vet told us its normal to have some cats to have extra discharge and should be fine if you clear it regularly.
She's otherwise fine, eats well, plays and no swelling around the eye.
Guess we'll try another vet.
