Stay Away from Centrecom - Problems With Parts and Warranty

I have been in the I.T Field for 10 years some of which i spent in government,
I have never experience problems like this and i have dealt with Umart, PC case gear,
even MSY, all other Australian providers all of which have followed consumer rights. However i spent over $5000 in multiple systems with Centrecom,

First of all upon inspecting all products i found indications of over 60% of products sent refurbished.

Second the 3090 i ordered was running poorly since i got it in terms of performance, however when running another normal game it produced FPS lag due to temp,
even though the system it was in is worth over $10k with extremely efficient cooling. upon the fps lag the display went black and the fan rpm was stuck at 99%
rpm. at this point the card melted and was no longer functional.

Third the motherboard i had issues with the second it arrived x299 was one of the products that looked refurbished upon installing it correctly i noticed a few
issues which led to multiple sparks and fires. at this point i gave centrecom the benefit of the doubt thinking it was just a simple mistake. I sent back the
product they sent it back with no evidence that they even touched it let alone fixed it. I resume installing it into another simple system to test with working
products it did the same thing if not worse due to the problems it had before. At this point the products from centrecom has damage and/or affected all other
products it was linked to.

Fourth is the most absurd scam attempt ive ever witnessed in this field. I claimed warranty and refund for those faulty parts above specifiying the exact
order numbers and the exact specific information in order of what to refund and what to replace i requested for those faulty parts which caught on fire and
what ever its linked to for refund, then i requested the 3090 to be replaced ande sent back a "new" one at this point someone from centrecom staff team
executed a refund for the 3090 by itsself.. mind you the 3090's have gone up in price since i purchased it at $2k They literally tried to scam me against
my will they tried to refund the 3090 which i advised against. they ignored my instructions and tried to benefit themselves.

Please what ever you do take my story into consideration and shop elsewhere do not let their free shipping fool you its not worth it.

I have been in the I.T Field for 10 years

I used to work in a computer store (to be clear, not centrecom) and at least half of the customer having dumb issue like can't install RAM properly, didn't plug in power cord deep enough etc. says they have10+ years in IT industry.

First of all upon inspecting all products i found indications of over 60% of products sent refurbished.

if you work in IT industry, you want to be precise with what you saying, i.e. I ordered a,b,c,x,y,z, and the x,y and z come refurbished because they don't have seal.

    the 3090 i ordered

    Which brand, which make?

worth over $10k with extremely efficient cooling

name your case, name your fan, name your cooler, send photo of your setup.

led to multiple sparks and fires ….. they sent it back with no evidence that they even touched it let alone fixed it

let's not talk about if the board was damaged by installing incorrectly, or simply faulty. You'd obviously know which part went on fire or sparked, and see a burnt IC, or burnt PCB, and yet you can't tell if they fixed it or not???? LOL?

installing it into another simple system to test

Why installing into system when you want to test a part that you don't know if it was faulty, test it OUTSIDE.

They literally tried to scam me against my will they tried to refund the 3090 which i advised against

According to ACCC, business can make decision to provide you either refund/repair/replacement, refunding you is perfectly legal. Also from my experience, back in when I work in the computer store, if I know the customer have no idea, and he seems like going to break more parts after replacement, I'd refund them and let other business take the loss instead.

    tried to benefit themselves

You call pay for the postage themselves, and send the card to manufacturer to get it repaired, waiting for weeks to have a repaired GPU sitting on their shelf god knows how long until they can get rid of it, means benefit themselves?? It is perfectly legal to let you wait a reasonable amount of time for them to get it repaired, and let you have a repaired card back.

me and my co-workers has find that out of the hundreds and hundreds of computer we build, it rarely ever have a faulty part, yet when customer bought them and assemble themselves, the failure rate suddenly become 10 times higher. The worst part is you still need to help them do all the warranty at our loss.

For what it's worth when I worked at centrecom they introduced a repacking procedure where they had all the factory seal stickers from each supplier made up so we could repackage stock as new…this was 2 years ago

      Hmmm, that's interesting

    • Do you know if that was happening at every store or was it just your store manager doing the dodgy ?

      • It was introduced at a managers meeting to be used in every store

    • What stock would you repack as new? Returns / Faulty stuff?

      • Returns that couldn't be returned to supplier, demo stock etc

OP looks to have vanished into fat air

I actually do believe he works for the government

Bad grammar, ghosting and the lack of effort + follow up

Fits the role of government fat cats to a big T

Oh by the way in the COVID-19 era they seemed to have kept their jobs and scored a payrise …

    ………..

    Hell yeah pen pushers!

    Overclocking gone bad?

Even then it has to be OC from hell. I cannot imagine anything that can cause this kind of damage wow!

  • I have known Centre Com for years now. Even invited him to my wedding and he was totally cool bro. Leave Centre alone, if you over volt your graphics card for 0.5% performance improvements and it dies thats not Mr Com's fault

  • +1

If OP has no problem with Umart, PC case gear, or MSY, why bother to go CentreCOM?

    • I can see sometimes Centrecom got a better price with free shipping.

  • While I can understand OP's frustration, a full refund is something a retailer can do. I get OP felt it is unfair he ended up missing out on a 3090 bargain deal as a result, but the issue could be a dud card so it is reasonable for Centrecom to refund in full.
