Has Anyone Here Had a Custom PC Built by Centre Com?

Hi guys/girls.

Just wondering if anyone has had a custom gaming PC or other PC built for them through Centre Com before? I’ve just engaged them to build my gaming/work pc and just wondering if anyone has any feed back on their outcome, or any issues with how they build? I chose to go this route due to current parts shortage and they happened to have everything in stock at the time so I just pulled the trigger before they sold out of what I wanted which they did within about 20 minutes after my order.

I’ve seen their ready to ship builds which looked quite good, but as you can’t physically speak to your system builder I assume they don’t just slap everything together and they actually know what’s up? I spoke to a couple of guys at their Richmond store over the phone who said they were quite good and enjoy doing higher end builds but I’d love to hear any feed back from you guys/girls on your experience?

TL:DR Anyone had a high end custom PC build done through Centre Com, how was it, any issues and did they do a good job?

Cheers all.

No it’s not the guy from online customer service said I have until Monday/Tuesday if i want to cancel, I won’t be cancelling though, this post is just more for feed back and to see what I maybe should look out for and get an idea on peoples experience. Last build from years ago was with scorptec and those guys did a good job as well but they have nothing available I wanted at the moment so I went with centrecom this time round.

Pretty easy to build yourself. Lots of videos online to assist

But I don’t want to. Couple of reasons I’m a single dad so my time is precious managing that + work, and logically speaking if there’s a component issue I don’t need the hassle of rma’ing back and forth and because they test everything if there’s an issue it gets sorted then and there and replaced. Couple this with parts shortage where even retailers are flipping 3090’s and Amd 6800’s and 6900’s plus ryzen chips in some cases over 1k above retail and things just become stupid. I noticed a magical thing happen however when I chose the retailer to build it for me I got parts at rrp.

I looked through the comments earlier, seems most are happy with Centrecom prebuilts

Yeh I think it’s the same no matter where you go honestly there’s only so many ways to put one together I guess.

Definitely agree wrt getting it built by someone else rather doing it yourself. I definitely could've gotten it done but the peace of mind of getting it done professionally + 1 year build warranty on top was too good to pass.

Gathered a few parts over a month when they got discounted and dropped them off at my local centrecom. Got it back 3 days later ready to go and haven't had a problem for two years now. It was also built very neatly, even going as far as to give some of the exposed wires the 'laminar' look using zipties.

Can definitely vouch for my local one (Sunshine VIC), YMMV.

Wow. That's pretty brave. I was thinking about this too, gathering all the parts from ebay/amazon/etc and getting Centre.com or the like to do it.

You are obviously not afraid your parts might be swapped

      • That is a fair concern

I think anyone that would do this is just soulless lack of integrity bum hole. It’s a fair concern but I think a bit of paranoia honestly I would find it difficult to believe someone would do this these days especially as the serial numbers would have to match what’s on the box. I’m thinking it would be pretty easy to detect as well.

        • The problem with this is "souless lack of integrity bum hole" doesn't bite until it happens to you and it does happen.

If you would then end up checking to make sure each component has the same serial number in the box by opening the computer, then you are almost might as well build it up yourself.

Probably easy to detect but the probability of people esp with limited computer literacy to open up the box and checking them, it fairly remote.

Having said that, it's worth considering

          • @burningrage: You don’t need to open up the pc though to check, you just log into windows and go into device manager and you can check in there. And the chances of it happening as I said would be very slim unless you used some no name backyard builder who is dumb enough to do it and if they did the customer they did it to would have to be a complete PC illiterate.

And swapped components for what? The exact same component? I honestly don’t understand your comment you’re being paranoid and no it will never happen to me because I have eyes and am pc literate.

            • @CheetoJesus: Ahh… that's one thing I didn't know. That you can check serial number via device manager.

In the past, I have seen Memory Modules are swapped for generic or refurbished of the same brand (possibly a returned product or defective product) and when problems do arise, pc assembler said its the customer's memory modules were faulty and you have no way of proving that's not the case.

It's not paranoid. It's a real risk being undertaken.

By all means, I also would like to do the same thing but unsure how to go about it. I have got almost every components I need for my PC.

Better to let it out in the open.

    • Thanks so much for the feedback, happy you had a good experience. And yes having the warranty plus not having to deal with rma issues if a part is doa or has some other issue is also better as they can just straight up swap it over for a working part without the hassle of me testing, reporting findings and posting back etc.

      Thanks again for your comment.

  • I dig around and it seems at least there is no negative feedback on their builds that I could find.

Just not sure if your waiting time for the build would be long as there are parts in your build that are out of stock after you placed the order?

Their website mentions if there is out of stock item in build, the waiting time could be longer.

Imagine if you have to wait for a gpu to be back in stock before they start building it…

But I guess it depends on if Centre Com reserve the stock at the time you place the order or only after payment is cleared/reconciled from their end?

    • All parts were in stock, and the build was nearly completed last Thursday except the 6900xt was defective and kept crashing the pc during testing so they let me know straight away and I was able to grab a rtx3080 to replace it why they were instock for all of 5 minutes, I’m extra happy now that I have commissioned them for the build as if that had of happened to me whilst I was building it I would of had to go through a painful rma process.

So far I’ve found their communication fast and really great, haven’t seen the build yet but will update once I receive everything.

      • Hey, great to hear yours is almost done and smooth sailing so far for you mate.

Yeah I think you can only place your order if parts are in stock for their custom build.

I was concerned because you mentioned some part was out of stock 20 mins after you placed your order so I thought you might have to wait for those parts but it seems they actually reserved those for your build.

I'm in a similar boat anyway as I placed mine on last Monday so will check back with them in a few days to see how it goes.
Just hope there won't be any defective for me with the gpu though since I can't find any of those available on their website now lol

And yeah I also found they replied to all my emails real quick so far.

        • Hi mate,

If the items were in stock at the time of ordering they’re automatically assigned to your order so you should be good to go.
