Looking for a suitcase

Anyone have any suggestions of where I can find a reasonably priced suitcase?
Doesn't have to be a particular brand or style. Just one that is large, light, and can do the job.

Thanks.

  • Not specifically, but be sure to weigh it before you buy. My daughters was nearly 8kgs empty. Puts a hefty hole in the baggage allowance.

    • I suggest buying some decent brand. Chinese brand fails quite fast.

  • The main thing is buy something good… don't get a cheap-ass suitcase

  • Go to strandbags

I bought this particular one in store — was on special for $60 bucks.

  • Standbags looks good. Thanks. Any other retailers?
Also, those saying to buy something good, anything specific I should be looking out for? I'm not very experienced with suitcases. Thanks.

The wheels on a luggage bag are usually the first to break. Inspect the wheels and the build quality of the stand and see if it's sturdy. Good luggage bags usually have inline ball bearing type wheels, although they're pretty damn expensive — don't expect to see one on a sub $100 bag.

There are often 2 types of zippers they use on luggage bags — coil zippers and chain zippers.
Coil zippers are the cheaper type of zippers you often see on clothes — they're flexible polyester or nylon that's sewn onto the zipper tape.
Chain zippers are the more durable kind that resembles plastic and are fused directly onto the zipper tape (see picture). These types are usually better.

Telescopic handles — give it a jiggle and see if it's firm. Good ones won't usually rattle as you pull them, and they should be strong enough to withstand the loaded weight of the bag without flexing too much.
