Retro iCade iPad Game Cabinet - $147.95 Delivered - Aust Supplier - This Is Really Hard to Find

71

Ok… Not a major bargain but almost impossible to find. Ebay - all external vendors. MWave -ordered, no stock. Amazon UK and US and ThinkGeek do not send to Australia (without 3rd party). Finally found this on Bigpond Shop - Price in US is $99 USD, but around $70 and a few weeks to get to Australia.

If you are a geek, you know what this is. To the non Geeks, this will allow your iPad to use an arcade controller to play Mame games (old school arcade games).
The best way to get these games is with a Jailbroken iPad 1 as the app has been pulled from Apple Store.
iMame4all if I remember correctly.

Image upload site is blocked at work. Would appreciate if someone can assist.

  • To me this is a bit expensive.

  • I saw this at Myer's (Sydney) today, $149. Myer is also selling other iOS accessories like the Apptoyz AppBlaster gun for iPhone, iKon Buggy, iON piano apprentice, iGrill, New Potato Pinball Magic, etc.

    • I didn't know Myers stocked these. I have searched for a long time to find an Australia reseller.
      Thanks for the heads up.

Hopefully my post (and your update), will help other geeks looking for this.

    • Also at Myer in Perth CBD, top floor.

  • I saw it at Myer too

    • Likewise, saw this at Myer Bourke St just before Christmas. More than likely still there.

Looks cool, but a little pricey!

  • i saw something similar to this in a CES coverage on Twit

    bit pricey thou.

    esp. for delivery $70

These were $69.95 and about $80ish AUD delivered on amazon 3weeks ago when the imame app was on the appstore but they sold out within hours and went into temporary sold out status now the price has gone up to $90+ but its drop last week to $79 so just keep a eye on them from amazon.

Currently IF YOU REALLY WANT ONE you can have it delivered for Order Total: AUD 108.04

pay using mastercard and you will be charge in AU by amazon so no other surprise fee's.

  • saw this at myers ttp and elizabeth south australia

  • I got one of these for Xmas. Downloaded the Atari 99 games for $10 and have played it for about 5 minutes. If you like the old games it's a great idea but not my cup of tea thanks.

    • Activision made the best Atari games most of the 1st party games on Atari were crap.

  • I got one of these for xmas as well.. Bought the atari games pack for it for $10.. However, there's just not that many games for it and since i have an iPad 2 there's no jailbreak for it, meaning that you can't install imame etc..

    Saw one at Myer Para.

Guess its not really hard to find… And the price difference makes it not so much of a bargain.

I got one for Christmas from my wife and I think it is great. Playing a lot of the old games really took me down memory lane. I have installed imame (before it was pulled from the App Store) which means the number of games you can play increase significantly.

if you are not into the old games, there are a number of the newer games which are compatible with the iCade. Refer to http://www.ionaudio.com/products/icade-games

  • why i should pay aus price and have "overseas" delivery time(9 days!!!)???

  • there is one of these left at Myer in Karrinyup W.A. and i think its on sale from $149, theyve got a big sale on

  • its just drop $10US on amazon so this can be landed in AU for $100AUS now.. so saving about $50 than buying local if you are in no rush

  • O.P. Update -
What a fricking nightmare - advised by Bigpond their supplier has no stock and they are refunding me.

Myer seems the only place to have stock, and limited at that.

I rang Myer Brisbane City, none since Christmas. He found three in stock in other Qld stores.
They no longer do store transfers, so you have to contact the store direct and they will post. He was nice enough to organise this for me and will call when he has organised it.

Wow.. Not worth ordering from Overseas with third party mail handling etc.

Thanks for advising that Myer sells them, not a bargain, but it will keep an old geek happy !!

    • The birdy told me it will arrive around end of Jan -

We probably know better than the Bigpond dude, since I personally deal direct with the distributor for iCades in Aust

Re: Myers, whatever you find in stores are left over stock from Christmas, if you can find one and you want one, grab one.

Otherwise, wait around end of Jan / early feb - we have 100x on back order

  • ordering above from amazon its ships directly to you.. not 3rd party… just make sure the seller is amazon.

  • Have seen in a few myers. As Myer was having a 60%/50% off gaming stuff on the weekened and still think it may be now as they are clearing out of the gaming stuff in myer, would the discount apply to these also?
Do they only fit ipad? How about Acer Iconia, HP Touchpads? Know the iconia is larger than the other two. Just dont know how they connect.

    • The ipad just drops into place in the icade. There's no cables or anything that it needs to connect with. If other tablets can slide into place, there's no reason why it can't work. That said, the actual iCade joystick/buttons is actually a bluetooth keyboard. iCade games look for specific bluetooth keyboard presses.
