Optus Huawei X1

Coles are selling an Optus Huawei X1 for $63. Has anyone got one? Is it OK for a basic smart phone for a senior person?

Smart phone for a senior person????

I got one for $79.I use it with my Liveconnected sim. Added a 2gb memory card off ebayfor $5.

Camera isnt the best and is difficult to press the shutter button-especially taking self portraits.
I get about a day and a half battery-so I dont understand the battery standby times they advertise.
Apart from the above it works well and is small and light.

  • got this when it was released on optus 6 months ago for $90 approx as a first phone for a teen. he's quite happy with it. agree with previous poster about battery life. but a great small cheap andriod. its hard to find things like a cover for it though.

  • thanks

Smart phone for a senior person????

as in 70+. a pc is too complicated. the person can handle a normal mobile (dial, call, answer) but that is about it. navigating menus using 2 keys is too complicated so many features are not used. i thought a touch screen might be workable with a couple of simple apps to display info.

  • I picked one of these up today - this is NOT a stock android experience - lots of Optus bloat - and the build quality feels worse than my kids 8150s but as far as web browsing / making calls & texts , its a perfectly acceptable phone to house my spare Amaysim SIM. It's $63 at Coles until Tuesday 17th.

    • i just rooted the one i got (trivial using superoneclick). now it is easy to uninstall the bloat.
