  • Seems like a pretty well spec'ed phone for the price, probably wouldn't look to gamer-y with a case

  • +3

    Bad: no expandable storage
    Good: audio jack

  • +4

Good price for a well spec'd phone, but would the Poco F3 not be a better buy at this current time?

The major differences is 120hz vs 144hz display, and 120W charging?

    • Cooling system plays a big part in gaming phone. The heavier the application the more heat the phone generates and in doing so the system will limit itself to manage heat and such performance will drop.

      • True, it depends though on how bad one colling system is to the other.

        • Gsmarena did some great tests with the s20 line and other top tier phones and gaming handsets. Confirmed that they are capable but it all came down to cooling and as such the hardware performance didn’t drop as much of any at all compared to flag ship phones which had a significant drop in performance to manage heat control.

      • I don't think it matters as much on this processor. If it was the sd888, then different story.

    Custom ROMS what's available?

    • +1

Those will probably start to appear from a few weeks to a few months after release.

I like how this year's model looks normal, without looking like a gaming phone.

Wish the cameras on these gaming phones were a bit better (e.g. OIS, etc), then I would happily use them as my daily driver.

  • +2

Nice how they sell you an extra 2GB RAM for an extra $120

  • +1

Hmmm, so what's the difference between this and the POCO F3 when there is over $100 differences?

    • Gaming buttons go pew pew pew

    • And the headphone jack…

  • aparantly this phone has currently the best speakers on the market, according to dxomark reviews

    • I thought that crown belonged to the Asus ROG Phone 5.

    • Dxomark is hardly reliable nowadays, specially with Chinese phones buying out top reviews.

    • I think that was 4 pro. unless both of them have identical speakers..

    No NFC again…..

    The "Not support NFC" part

Edit: This was a reply to the above.

    • The specifications aren't accurate. If you google, you'll find every article points to the phone having NFC

      • Lol shit, my mistake for reading the products description page. Well, now I'm more interested…

Edit: Wait, it has NFC in China activated. That does not guarantee NFC is usable outside of China. I forget which watch has NFC disabled outside of mainland markets.

        • You are right… the global version has NFC disable… got myself one.. dont know how.. but the final price was 525 for me..

Looks a nice phone but can't justify the price.

    • +1

and how much exactly do you think you should be paying for a Snapdragon 870 phone?

  • wonder if they will come out with a 4 PRO with 7+ inch screen?

    • No, same size as the regular 4.

      • Well that's not very pro then.

        • +2

The main difference is Snapdragon 888 vs 870.

Most likely be the Sammy 6.8" every flagship is using.

Which is a shame, was hoping for atleats 7.1" like the pro 3 to replace my mate 20x

          • @krisspy: Yeah. Got the pro 3 right now and it's a beast of a phone still

            • @xoom: nice, pro 3 be good for gaming. hows the photo and video recording quality?

              • @edBARGAIN: photo and video quality is ok. its no potato but its not to be compared to the likes of other phones that does it well though.

  • Haven't owned a Xiaomi in a while, but is their launcher still a clone of iOS? Meaning, home screen is just the app draw, no separate shortcut for app drawer, no shortcuts, no widgets on home screen outside of the clock.

That was a turn off for me.

    • +1

Posting on a black shark 3 pro.

      There's an app drawer.

You can have widgets and app shortcuts on the home screen.
