What Can I Expect to Get from an Xbox One (Original) Trade-in

I've seen a few discussions on here about people trading in Xbox One X, but I'm wondering about the original Xbox One.

What can I (roughly) expect to get for a trade in at the moment and is there a known best retailer to try?

The only company I can find who makes public what they pay for various consoles is The Gamesmen, who have it listed at $90.

    Call EBGames and find out.

Better off just keeping it imo
Especially if you still have the box

You are probably better off selling it for cash on gumtree? They had deals at release time for trading your XBox one but I doubt they do now.

  • The Gamesmen, who have it listed at $90.

    TAKE IT!

Cex also tells you the price they'll pay. I believe this is the one. They also cover the cost of postage to them if you don't have a nearby store.
You'll definitely get a lot more selling yourself, I'd say between $150 to $200. If you listed it for $100 it would go very quickly.

    • Excellent. Appreciate your help.

    • Who would pay $200 for an OG xbox one?

  • A packet of sugar and peanut butter smeared on a playing card.

TL;DR - EB Games will give $135 before your EB World Level bonus for a 1TB drive, slightly less if it's a 500GB drive.

I traded in an Xbox One Elite SSHD 1TB console last month, it's an original Xbox One but came with a Solid State Hybrid Drive and an Elite controller (Series 1). I wanted to keep the controller and trade in just the console - EB Games treated it as an original Xbox One console but did take into consideration it had a 1TB drive and offered $90 without the controller and $135 with any official Xbox controller (not a 3rd party brand like PDP).

I then went to hunt on eBay for an official Xbox controller that would cost me under $45 (not easy to find) and ended up getting one that had stick drift (it turned off most bidders) for less than $30 to trade in to EB Games for a minor profit.

So in the end I got $135 trade-in value for a Xbox One 1TB console + EB World bonus on top of that.

Also for reference, I asked about Xbox One X 1TB trade in back in Feb and they would have taken it for $250 (before bonus) with a controller or $200 (before bonus) without a controller. That's a considerable drop from January when the promotion ended offering $350 trade-in value when trading towards an Xbox Series X console which were much harder to find back then.

    • This is great info. Thanks so much.
