Telstra $30 SIM Starter Pack for $10 & HOW TO USE

I posted a deal about the special where y you can get a $30 Sim starter pack for $10 from Coles and Woolworths ( http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/61263#comment-724635) at the moment and i want to know if i can use it as follows.
I want the 10GB prepaid tablet deal which costs $150 so is it practical to buy multiples of this starter pack deal and do creditme2u from each of them? I am pretty sure there is a $10/day limit and each transfer costs you 25c so you would need 6 of these packs and it would take a number of days to do the transfers. Anyone know if this will work???

  • do you need to activate all 6 packs?
I thought there was a limit to how many mobile account one person can register.

if it can be done it should only take 3 days which isn't too long.

  • I just drew it out on paper and it is actually 7 packs that you need because each Sim is left with less than $10 after two $10 transfers due to the 25c free each time. You basically throw away 6 of the cards with around $9 on each. Can you deactivate cards when you are finished with them to get around max number of activations?

    • you can transfer anywhere from $1-$10 so you dont actually need $10 to do the transfer you can just transfer the $9 on the last day.

  • Here's what I found on the telstra website for mobile braodband
The credit only last 14days. to get the $150 you'll need it in one go hence it wont work.
    but a good thought!

    1. Credit Me2U®
The Credit Me2U® service is a handy option that allows you to transfer credit from your Telstra Pre-Paid or Telstra post-paid mobile service to another Telstra Pre-paid service.

You can transfer whole dollar amounts up to $15 of credit from your Telstra Pre-Paid or Telstra post-paid Mobile to your Telstra Pre-Paid Mobile Broadband account in any 24 hour period. This is ideal for a quick top up when you need it. This is also available from your My Account main menu, via your Connection Manager, on your tablet home screen, or or at http://myprepaid.telstra.com.

With Telstra post-paid Credit Me2U®, you can perform a one-off credit transfer or set up a regular scheduled transfer, up to a value of $100, to a Telstra Pre-Paid Mobile or Mobile Broadband service.

Each Telstra post-paid mobile can transfer a total of $400 per month by scheduled and/or one-off transfers.

Please note that Credit Me2U® transfers of less than $20 will not extend your existing credit expiry date if your credit expiry is 14 days or more on the date of the Credit Me2U® transfer. You will keep that credit expiry date for the total of your account balance. If you have less than 14 days credit expiry on the date of the Credit Me2U® transfer, your main account expiry date will be extended to the 14 days. Standard credit expiry rules apply to Credit Me2U® transfers of $20 and above.

  • Good point about being able to transfer less than $10.
If i end up with $150 in credit can't i then just buy the 10gb tablet pack that expires in 1yr???
Admittedly i am new to prepaid so i might be missing something. I understand that if i bought no packs that it would expire in 14 days.

  • i think the easiest way is to get a $30 microSIM pack to start off, then buy Me2U credit from ebay every 13 days, they usually sell for around $6.50. then every $10 me2u = 500Mb data.
